Is TRD PRO worth the cash?

I work 8+ hours a day travel, 1 1/2 or 2 hours each way (depends on traffic) and I have 2 young boys that plays sports. I can forget my beautiful bride. I have no time to wrench after work or on the weekends. To modify my vehicle.
I have $ but I don't to waste it. (That's why I have the $) like on a cool color or the WOW factor.
On paper the Trail and PRO should perform the same.
In my area of country I can buy both new under sticker and the used maket is the same (example 2016 Trail premium with 23k miles for $35k and a Inferno red PRO with 35K miles for $39k)
I started this post to see if I was missing something that paper doesn't show ?

If you can live without the sunroof, go with the Pro. It was the only reason I went with converting a TRDOP to a Pro. Most dealerships think mine is a pro so no one would notice.

You're right we're talking about an inexpensive vehicle, a mere drop in the bucket for some (me).

I do agree that Group 1 probably is blue collar and does not go into work on the weekends and does not recognize the theory of "opportunity costs" and most likely has a poorly funded 101(k).

Group 2 most likely is comprised of white collar types with in demand skills that precludes them from wasting their time "wrenching" on their vehicles because their time is more valuable pursuing more lucrative endeavors that help them overfund their 401(k).

What I am saying is that you can't say that you spent $2000-$2500 in cash (or maxed out your credit card) and expended whatever amount of your spare time and ended up with a vehicle that is worth a negligible amount more than you paid for it and say "I saved money!" Does anyone on this Forum have any real economic sense????

it’s exactly this kind of puffed-up, overinflated, autoerotic aggrandization that started to infest this forum in earnest after the launch of the TRD Pro and it’s why these threads go off the rails so predictably. it’s toxic, and while it certainly doesn’t represent the majority of Pro owners, it happens with enough frequency to clearly illuminate at least a sliver of the psychographic segmentation of the TRD Pro buyer profile.

How ironic, I am watching the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida when a 429 Shelby Mustang crosses the block and the announcer says (not quoting) It is pretty easy to replicate this technically and cosmetically, but you have to have the "paperwork."

I suspect it is also why no one with a 14 line listing of the modifications they have made to their 4Runner will venture to guess the value of their pet vehicle?

Not a damn thing wrong with either group. It’s Group 3 who act like buying the exact same truck but with different shocks and badges is the same comparison as say buying a Shelby instead of a stock mustang that are so insufferable.

Am thinking of trading my 2017 OR in on a Pro. The same Toyota tuned suspension kit for the Pro is available for about $1800. With Toyota installation am not sure of the price.
The price difference of the Pro when I bought mine was about 5 grand, which I couldn't afford at the time but now I can.
Really don't care about all the other Pro cosmetic parts only the Pro's small suspension lift. Would hate to have the dealer charge me a whole lot to install the suspension when I could just buy the Pro.
Whats the largest tire that will fit on a Pro without having to do any mods? Is it different than whats listed in the T4R.org 5th Gen Tire Fitment Guide or is it the same?
Would only consider having Toyota install the Suspension so as to keep my warranty, unless I waited till after warranty. Then I might consider trying to do the install myself, even though I really don't have the time to do major mechanical work like that anymore.
The comments about how a suspension mod would not affect my trade in value on my OR, as I am not thinking about getting rid of this vehicle for a long time if I do the mod on it though. What do you think? Thanks for your help.

And it should never have been allowed from the start when one suggested a Pro Only Meet or another asked for Roof Rack Options for the Pro or when they were allowed to crave out their own sub forum. Also totally agree that it’s only a very VERY small percentage of new owners but by going along with the lie while allowing the attitude to fester, many others share some responsibility for the profile.

Great Truck. Perfect trim level for some. And I won’t blame either the truck or the trim lever just because a very few have modded theirs to be a douche canoe because that mod would be true no matter what they drove.

I will admit I did go a little overboard in trying to establish my bonafides as it relates to making financial decisions, and that I have many interests that take precedence over modifying my vehicles myself. If I offended anyone I am truly sorry.

However, getting back to the subject of this thread, if someone establishes that the TRD Pro meets their needs, they do not wish to personally modify an ORP to mimic a TRD Pro, and can buy a TRD Pro at MSRP or lower, under NO circumstances will they "SAVE MONEY" or be making a prudent financial decision if they ignore my advice to buy the TRD Pro (in any color).

The reason these treads go off the rails and become toxic is because some people can not accept the above fact.

If you mod the way a lot of people do you will spend more on your trail or sr5 then the pro, I see a lot pro’s modified so they spent even more. If you feel as though this is about $ and resale then I hate to break it to you that these are not investments to make $ on. If you feel any better than anyone else because of what u drive..... then I have no use for you.

Sure I wanted it...I’ve been slowly modding it mysellf over the past 6 months. Doing it myself because I enjoy it, and also because I know it will be done right....with the help of a lotta folks on this forum!!


Almost went with the trail because I wanted gray, but the Barcelona red grew on me.
