Isc valve

That was the diagnostics coming back from the dealership. They said my Isc (Idle speed control) valve needs to be replaced. Then I went to napa and check to see if i buy one from them but no luck. My question is, is this service needs to be done by the dealer or is there another way to this problem?

How often does this happens? Have any of you guys have this happened to you?

They told me the valve is sticking or something but they cleaned it (the dealer).

ISCs go bad often, and with all makes.
I think the high rate of failure with ISCs is due in part to the strain put on them by carbon buildup in the valve. The ISC is constantly receiving varying output from the PCM, and constantly changing the position of the valve. When there is carbon built up in the valve, the motor has to fight every time it moves that valve. And all that work can wear out an electric motor fast.

As far as doing the job yourself, you can handle it. Get a Chilton/Haynes manual if necessary.
Once You've replaced it, be sure to check and clean the new one regularly.

I worked at a dealer for several years as a service tech, then I left the dealer to work for a performance lexus/toyota shop & was introduced to worldpac they are discount auto parts that supply to most shops. They carry Nippon Denso OEM parts They do not have toyota part #'s most of the time you have to look it up by NIPPON DENSO part# but you deffinately save a ton. I can dig up more info if you need it, I beleive a ISC valve is around $25 for our runners at least the 5VZ-FE

That would be great. The dealer just wants to rip more money from me already.

I brought the haynes menu for 4runners and it kinda of help but could you get me more info on it. I would really like to have this replaced and solve my problem.

Still no luck, the lights is popping on and off.

Can I clean the isc valve? maybe that might help? or should i just replace the valve instead?

Can I get some help on this, i know where the valve is but how do i clean it?
