I'm looking to do these mods too. What did you use to replace to silencer? Did u go to a muffler shop to get it? That's what I heard people do.

The noise increase is going to be pretty minimal under normal driving conditions. If you really want to hear the growl put the peddle to the floor when you are getting on the freeway. If you still can't hear it after that, you may be deaf.

well, since mine is a 98 i had to replace 3 black plastic boxes for some pvc end caps. i used a .5, a 1" and a 1.5" i see yours is an 01, so probably you just remove the middle part and replace it with any muffler piece of pipe. i was going to gt your intake hose but i was too excited and didnt wait lol it was pretty easy. and it is also easily reversible. for the deckplate i bought a 4 inch from beckson and some self tapping screws. i have a hole saw kit so it was super easy. i was all done in less than 15 minutes

yea sounds good. i look forward to doing these mods. I'm just about to turn 18 too! bring some youth to the forum haha

I didn't spend any money...I just unclipped the airbox lid and left it kinda open and I got the "growl/noise" whenever I step on the gas pedal.....It's not really loud at all, but it is there...basically you are just allowing more cold air into the airbox and this causes the extra "noise/growl"...no MPG improvement at all so don't look for that....if anything you will lose MPG due to stepping on the gas to hear the "noise/growl" as I did often it is fun...if you guys need the "noise/growl" to be louder look into getting a magnaflow or some simular type exhaust. I went with the TRD exhaust and that is awesome.....now I'm thinking TRD headers to go with the exhaust system....

Im thinking of gerting an exhaust upgrade too, my truck came with a disgusting fart can sounding muffler and i want to change it. Plus i think it leaks, its rustes too, so just more and more excuses for a magnaflow :D:D

You will hear your "growl" or if you hear a growl at a higher RPM. You won't notice any MPG or MUCH power at all. You may be able to tell a SLIGHT amount of gain in hp but not enough to be exited about. I have done both ISR and DeckPlate and am Happy with how it sounds with my flowmaster. Also Welcome to the youth group lol, I'm 17 myself... You will find yourself sucked into this addictio... errr I mean hobby very easy. Any plans on lifts?

Actually you are just letting more hot air into the aribox (from the hot engine compartment). The noise/growl isn't from the extra airflow (the engine gets all the air it needs from the stock setup) but from the fact the air intake is under the hood (closer to you) and not in the fenderwell.

actually saving up for a lift now! i want to go with the lc in the rear and tundra/bilsteins up front, bt finding the parts is a PITA.... i asked steve from sonoran and he can get me the lc coils with the shocks for about 400. is this a good deal? id still have to get the setup for the front -____- what do you guys recommend?

Ding ding! Winner!

hmmm ive been thinking about it, but i just want to buy stuff once, that ill run for a long while.. i don't want to buy spacers and then more money on the struts.. so i rather wait and get it right first time, also cause i plan in trailing and mudding so i want a full fledged suspension lift. maybe going with the ss 1.2
