ISR on '02 question

So, here is what I did to re-route that line you have circled. Please excuse the HIDEOUS engine bay...

Remove the tube you have circled. Chuck it. Seen in photo 1

Photo 2 shows a new piece of vacuum line routed from the nipple on the back of the intake that is currently capped to the currently un-used metal tube.

Photo 3 shows another new piece of vacuum line attached from the other side of the currently un-used metal tube to the FPR.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I just did this and notices that the unused tube on top couldn't get any air through it... I decided to try and clear any grime that would be in it just before I finished it, so I sprayed it with some of that key board air and nothing came out, I was wondering if maybe you had any issues like that or if it's just my tube

I just went out and checked mine, and it pulls good vacuum through that tube.
I didn't try and blow through it though. I wonder if the vacuum is stronger than just blowing.

That's weird... I plugged mine in together and it's running fine. Be check engine lights or anything. It kinda made me wonder if it was even necessary lol
 
Yeah, I couldn't say off the top of my head where that goes, but it is allowing something to either passively vent oily air, or pull in filtered ambient pressure air. In neither case would you cant it just laying around open. It's either going to breathe out oily fumes and make a mess, or suck in dust where it doesn't belong.

That hose runs straight to the Fuel Pressure Regulator at the back of the engine. It first runs to the adapter/mount that is pictured so it won't rest on the hot intake plenum and melt the hose.
Not completely sure, but that tells me that it's needed to help regulate air/fuel ratios. So leaving it bare could hurt your mileage or power and could make you run too lean or rich. Not sure which, but common sense says that at least.
Drill a hole in the ISR, thread in a nipple, and run it to that. That'll be as 'stock' as possible.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna end up buying a legit cold air intake. So far the truck sounds great and it's running great. But I'm kinda wondering if it's even sucking up any air through that hose since it seemed clogged when I tried to blow through the top pipe.

But I'm also wondering if anyone had issues with anything similar, but I've also seen other users with the same setup
