issues installing 4xInnovations front bumper

I installed the bumper on my 97 this weekend but had some problems. The four mounts on the side of the frame were very difficult to line up enough to start the bolts. One never aligned properly and stripped out. Also the two on the front won't align. But even if they did the holes in the bumper are bigger than the head of the bolts so it wouldn't hold anything anyway. The website says the bumper installs with all factory hardware.

Anyone else have any problems?

When installing aftermarket bumpers and parts you can always expect a little modification for best fitment. Line the bumper where you want it. Enlarge or drill holes as needed, bolt up and weld if you want it 100% solid. Just how the world of aftermarket modification goes.

i have a 4xinnovations bumper i installed as well. expect this for sure. i bought some burr bits for use in a die grinder for reaming the holes(elongate) to allow my bumper to fit correctly. also will need a floor jack to help. i had to modify every hole on mine and now it fits nicely. i suggest you retap to clean all the stock bolt holes on your runner that the bumper mounts in and lube the bolts a little to help.

Contact them and politely tell them your issue. You bought it expecting to fit as the instructions tell you. If the instructions do not mention having to make dozens of tweaks here and there to fit, then there is an issue with their manufacturing process.

traxman25 The guys over at 4xinnovations make a solid product and I haven't had any real issues with mine (IE egging out holes). Give them a call and they will help you take care of it.

Sorry you are having some trouble mounting your bumper. Give me a call and we'll chat about it. We're happy to help. 1-608-348-4880

Thanks guys. I'll do a little hole trimming when I get a chance.

Why drill out holes? They are offering to talk about it and work with you so call them up. It should fit without any drilling or making a round hole oval. If oval was the way to mount a bumper...why are bolts round?

All of the mounting holes in the bumper are already oval shaped. I guess to allow an error tolerance. I got the bumper to mount using a come along and a sledge hammer. Only had to trim one hole about 1mm.

Sounds like you should have given us a call! I'd like to at least be able to chat with you about what sort of trouble you were having. At the very least, we can't fix problems if we don't know what they are.

Sounds like he got it on without too much modification. Everyone's 4runner has gone through a different life. The sheltered ones who are garage kept get all the nice things easy, while the less fortunate ones may have gotten into a few rock fights, bumps, and bruises, or hospitalization.

Can't beat 4xinnovations prices. I'm picking up my second set of sliders from them in the coming week

Who is to say that his was or was not? Either way, I give credit where it is due to 4xInnovations for reaching out to the customer even if he did not respond.
