Issues with 2006 6-disc JBL unit (MP3) in 2004 T4R replacing 6-disc JBL

I call upon the experts again.

I just finished installing a newly acquired 2006 6-disc JBL unit (MP3) in my 2004 T4R. I originally had the standard 6-disc JBL unit with tape player. I also had a PIE adapter that I used with an MP3 player.

Two issues came up:
1) The unit does not fit perfectly. It appears to be just maybe 4-5mm too far in (see pictures). The standard 2004 JBL unit fit perfectly and the bottom of the face of the unit aligned perfectly with the upper border of the AC controls.

I figured I could get a couple of metal brackets and adjust for the difference, but I have not heard of this issue before; not even from other members that performed the same installation. Am I missing something?

2) When the radio is turned off, there is a very soft buzzing noise that only goes away when I turn the key to Lock position and remove it. I am sure the sound is coming out of the speakers and sounds like an untuned AM frequency at very low volume.

Initially I thought it was the PIE unit that was causing the problem with the 2006 unit. So I removed it completely and reinstalled everything. Unfortunately, the buzzing noise persists. Any thoughts?

I've got the PIE unit on my 2004 4Runner with the 2005 6 Disc JBL (non MP3) and I'm pretty sure I don't have a buzzing noise. I think it'd be pretty obvious and annoy me pretty quickly. I'd just recheck the connections. I think there were two antenna connections so maybe one of them is loose?

As far as the fitment, I'll have to check tomorrow. It's too darn cold outside and I'm doped up with large doses of tryptophan :

I know your pain on the fit issue, you are about 4 steps ahead of me on this install, I am in the process of buying the panel that goes around the radio, and eventually I think I will have to buy the AC panel/switches that fit the radio too. Good luck, and I will keep you posted when I finally get mine in...
