It is time to change oil for diff/transfer case?

I have 2010 4runner, I believe it is first year of 5th Gen. I purchased in Mar 2011. Now it has 170k Km on it. I towed a trailer 4 times for 600km during these years. It also had another heavier load (top and hatch loader) for a trip about 4000km. I'd never changed oil for differential/transfer case. Also never changed transmission fluid.

Do you think it is time to do so?

I am confused because based on maintenance guide (for my 4runner for sure), it said:

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION & HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID
• Replace every 72 months/96,000 km (Camry, Camry Hybrid, Sequoia, Sienna, Tundra)
DIFFERENTIAL ( 4WD & RWD MODELS ONLY)
• Replace fluid every 48 months/64,000 km (Sienna (AWD), Sequoia, Tundra)
TRANSFER CASE ( 4WD MODELS )
• Replace fluid every 48 months/64,000 km (Sienna (AWD), Sequoia, Tundra (4WD))

It doesn't say anything need to be changed for "4RUNNER" even this comes with 4runner's owner's manual.

Do you guys have any suggestion? I am wondering if 4runner is such great you even don't need to change them? :eyebrows:

Replace all 3 (Front, Read and Transfer case). It's easy. There is a good tread on this forum on how to do it. GL

Way overdue for all 3 actually. Would be a very good idea to have the transmission serviced also. 105K miles is to much on any vehicle especially while towing.

I am wondering should I choose gear oil for limited slip or not? I don’t know if 5th Gen limited has any diff are limited slip :-(

LS. It says that on the back of rear diff housing. Look for small white square sticker.

I look at the rear diff housing tonight and there are 2 white stickers on it. But none of them indicate LSD

2010 without LS seams unlikely. I've no Idea what to tell you. I would use oil with LS additive anyway because it'll cover both bases. If not needed it wont hurt a thing, though. GL

I finally changed oil for 2 diffs and transfer case and thinking it's my turn to contribute something here.

Mine is 2010 4runner I believe it is 5Gen. I would like to say, Diffs and TC are exactly same as the picture showing on the first page of 4GEN which described in the famous post - "Changing Differential & Transfer Case Fluids - Pics Included".

But, somehow dealer provided 6 gaskets there are 3 of them don't fit. What they give to me, based on receipt, same as the one listed here in first page. So, I had thought it is correct but they are not.

Dealer give to me 3 small, 2 middle, and 1 large (cooper). Due to the receipt, they are 12157-10010, 94030-18008 and 94030-24003.

When I doing the work, I noticed, other than the large cooper one for Front Diff drain, rest are same (or similar) middle size of gasket. None of 3 small can be put in.

I ends up reuse 3 of them for fill as I cannot drive out to purchase anything without my ride is ready. I am little worried if there is problem for reusing them. They call crash washer, and I am actually saw it is crashed when I wrench them in indeed. Should I get correct washer and redo the job?
