So I blew a head gasket in my '87 runner. It only took me two days to replace it, the head didn't warp thank god. When I finished I took it out for a drive an it has never ran better. Ill post pics of the job as soon as I can.

Don't forget to retorque the head after 500 miles... I failed to do that on my old '86, and it blew again after two years.

Do you need to do this on the 3vze engine? I had mine done about 1000 miles ago but hasnt had any re-tourquing........

yep we resurfaced ourselves. me and my dad checked it for an warping with this straight edge and this metal gauge.it wasnt warped at all really, the gasket blew between the center two cylinders
