I've got double vision..got my second 3rd Gen

My obsession began in about 85 or 86 when I saw my first T4R. I purchased my first, a 4th Gen in 07. After trading it in on a Sequoia I knew I had to have another T4R but I also knew that the 3rd Gen was my personal favorite so last summer I got a 98 Limited 3rd Gen

Well The 98 is destined to be my son's in less than a year and I was not going to be left without a T4R as my daily driver so this weekend I scored on an almost identical 99.

It is an SR5 and in pretty good shape. I need to do a few cosmetic repairs as I did on the 98. My neighbors think I am absolutely nuts I am sure. Two nearly identical 4Runners. Funny thing is, we are the third two 4Runner house in the neighborhood.

I've already removed & sold it.

I am putting on an ARB bumper from the rolled '96 in the back yard.
Just haven't gotten to it yet

Well since it's only the wife and me I don't want both of us driving the same vehicles but she's been eyeing 4th gens as of late and then maybe I can get a 5th gen TE.

I did own two 5 years ago when I was single but sold the '97 shortly after I got my much improved '99. The only other 4Runner in the family is my mom's '99 Limited.

LOL, wow I am not the only one...I was beginning to think I was weird. I love the 99, it certainly feels like it sits higher than the 98 and the ride is nice and tight. The 98 has Goodyear Silent Armor Wranglers on it and they are a fairly aggressive tire but I love the way it drives. The 99 came with a fairly new set of Michelin LTX MS2's. They are not as aggressive in tread as the Wrangler SA's but feel great on the road.

I cannot decide if my next one will be another 3rd Gen or a 4th....nah I have to have a Green 3rd Gen.

I have two on two different continents. The first was a '97 Hilux SW4 in Brazil, still mine, but in the custody of my ex-wife. I reclaim it when I'm down there. I liked it so much I bought the '99 Runner when I came back to the States after the divorce. Now she has a boyfriend with a '98 Diesel Hilux pickup extracab.

I came close to getting a 2000 SR5 2.7 5 speed in an unusual midnight blue color. Was kinda beat up but the price was fair considering the condition. Ended up getting a Taco though. lol
