i commented back on the autoblog thing to clear some things up about the parks dept.
This is the owner of the 4runner in the story above , this is the truth of the matter. We weren't stranded, no one was injured and the main road with multiple campgrounds full of weekend campers was blocked in alot of places. The parks dept. has been nothing but nice to me and don't want to speak poorly of them. in reality by the time my wife was able to call 9-1-1 , she was 5 mins from town in a car with a nice couple from Bellevue, i was helping remove fallen trees with other stuck campers and hikers from the main route, we were the only campers down that particular road at the time, i never saw anyone else in the couple of hours i was sitting in the rain waiting for my wife and friends to return. That sucked but i wasn't in danger, i wrote the post, i never personally spoke with either 9-1-1 or the parks dept, there was alot going on during all of this as you can imagine. in my original post i was rushed and being short. so, i can see where the confusion came from. I never envisioned this sort of response, so info had been sparse at best as it was more about the pictures and having a laugh, i'll let you argue over the merits, But that truck has carried me over most of the Western US, and back home even after this incident , i'm defiantly buying Toyota again..

so in reality we were "too far" at the given time considering what was going on elsewhere and my current condition, i was never upset they didn't come out , i was a former SAR volunteer for a bit and was also raised to be self-reliant, So, it never occurred to me to be upset about any of this as what my wife was told made sense and really as we've shown it wasn't something we couldn't handle in the end anyways.
The government and park dept shouldn't be and isn't responsible for you in the wilderness , you're responsible for yourself, they are just there to help the best as they can, If we start saying that they are" responsible for everything" that happens in the wilderness, we lose the wild part of the wilderness and the very essence in what makes being being alive and outdoors so great. Again no one was hurt or in any immediate danger (after the tree fell, lol) so in reality this was a vehicle recovery effort and nothing more, i personally don't think the parks dept. should be "responsible" for things like this, sure it sucks, but it is what it is and i blame no one or anything for all of what has happened this weekend....any part of it...it's just bad luck mixed with some good luck and just another day in "life" ...crap happens man, you can either get pissed and deal with it or just deal with it, i don't handle stress well so i prefer to just not get angry and go to work on the problem...
anyways, thanks a ton guys for all of the well wishes, i'm gonna need it the new truck that i drove 2 hours to go look at yesterday failed my mechs inspection a bunch of gaskets in the engine need to be replaced , so I'm taking the truck back today to negotiate the dealer to fix it, i saw a small leak and had the contract written in such a way where they are required to either fix the leaks or let me out of the contract, as it turned out the leaks where much worse then i thought so we'll see where this goes, i'm leaving in about an hour to go take care of this, i think if this falls through i may contact Toyota of north America and see if they can help me track down a suitable replacement, just to be clear i don't expect anythign for free (though that would be awesome, lol) I really just want to find "MY" truck again in good condition , i've looked at all of the silver '99 limiteds with the diff lock in my area and all are pretty beat up for the money, and i'm super bummed as the one i have at this second is nice enough but has some issues as it wasn't cared for like it should be......i digress, i got alot on my mind and a lot going on right now , so please forgive my rambling, i'll update you guys as to what's happening with the dealership today.
