Jack question

I still have the stock jack that came with it, but I also carry around a bottle-jack that fits nicely under the axle as well. The lift does not affect it that much, but in case it does, I have a hi-lift. When I installed my wheel spacers, the bottle-jack was more than sufficient to lift it up.

In a trail situation as pictured- gravity becomes your friend. You put the good wheels downhill and into a depression for example-so the flat tire is unloaded-little to no weight on it.
For your picture as shown-I am imaging the drivers front is the flat here so follow along with the example. That driver would simply back down just a bit to allow the right side and the rear of his rig to be steeply downhill unloading the fronts.
Then you use your High Lift jack with slider cushion or cradle to lift the vehicle to unload the weight further off the flat tire. You only need a couple of inches of clearance. Don't lift any higher than absolutely necessary.
Build a support base of rocks and wood chunks (softer than rock or suspension) and insert this base to meet your vehicle suspension/diffs whatever will support the weight safely. Chocks at all the good wheels, again usually rocks. Front and back. You don't want any sliding either direction.
Never trust the Hi Lift alone. Especially as you yank the flat off and reattach the spare ( you of course loosened all the lug nuts when it was down on the ground) Remove the handle from Hi Lift so it does not disfigure someone or worse. They have and still are called 'widow makers' for a reason.
Learn how to use it before you need it and even then keep the instruction manual dry and in your truck at all times. Pickup your truck once in awhile with the Hi Lift-stuck in the rear hitch receiver for example- just so you know how it works and how to lower it properly. Done this a couple of times at my garage for lift installs.
Wheel with folks who know what they are doing just in case this were to occur and you are uncertain- until you have seen it done once or twice.
And a quick word to you guys that think a tall farm lift jack will get you by. Yeah, it probably will but the few dollars extra a Hi Lift costs is a huge piece of mind when you actually need it. They won't fall down until you jack them down for example and not sure you can say that for most farm jacks. 20% off sale at Perormance Parts for Trucks and 4WD parts will match that if you are not into paying freight.
I carry more recovery gear with me than I have ever used. But just yesterday I got myself in a pickle and was glad to have every single piece.
Wow I just sort of realized what that is pictured. A nicely built 4th gen with solid axle front? that is a sweet set up and I like that front bumper I think it is an Armorology.

This is true for the rear, but the front increases significantly in height with any suspension/tire lift. The rear only increases from tires. You can still use a bottle jack on the lower control arms in the front if you do not feel comfortable with a hi-lift. It would be my first choice anyways, then use the hi-lift only if the safer approach did not work.
It's a Shrockworks. I don't think armorology has made anything for a 4th gen, and I believe all of their work is custom. Some of their 4Runner bumpers (2nd and 3rd gen) have come out a little funny looking.

The wife inadvertly "touched" the 4Wd push button lever on our 99 4runner the other day.We arent 4 wd folks.heres the scenario....
I can start ,put the automatic tranny in neutral then try to put the 4wd back in the neutral.
,now go back to the automatic shifter and put it in drive...and just creeps forward....So now the only way I can drive is in H2.A toyota tech told me that 4wd is suppose to be in neutral if its not being used. what are your thoughts.I'd rather email a 4wheeler type then some city tech.

Read the owners manual to learn how to operate the 4wd.
