Hey all, after being gone for a little over a year, I'm back! I had a 00 4runner Limited that I had started to work on and then sold it for a 02 Tacoma last September. Well a couple weeks ago I acquired a 2000 SR5 5spd from a salesman at the local Toyota dealer. Has 208K on it but man is it solid. I am really excited to get going on this.

2nd Gen I sold...

thanks nopnotme, its good to be back! Yeah, I'm not positive what they're official name is but I've seen them on the new tacomas. I'm still on the fence with these but they have a nice set of tires on them so i'll run them for now. I think a wheel spacer and a nice set of mud tires will bring them to life.

How rare is this 4runner, 2000 SR5 5 speed with leather package?

First order of business, a wash and hand buff with rubbing compound brought the oxidized, hazy black back to life. Also removed the running boards.:reddance:

Next my brother and I pulled the seats and tore into the inside. Vacuumed, cleaned and shampooed everything. Reinstalled the seats and put some new Weather Tech floormats front and back. I had put seatcovers on because the drivers seat has a couple tears but didn't like the fit of them so pulled them back off. Cleaned up really nice!

Clean up looks good, plan to pull my seats out soon. Not ready for whats underneath.. Not sure about your leather seats rarity but shiii looks great and I bet more comfortable, a lot of owners seem to eventually swap for a set of leather ass cushion. I previously had a 01 auto and recently purchased a 99 5spd and absolutely love it.

I was looking at your build. I had seen the 99 on craigslist last month. I'm in NM but always look in Denver. It looks nice and the best part is you got a good head start on the mods. From what I understand, the 00 in a 5spd wasn't too common and a 5 spd with leather even less, I could be wrong though, maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in on that, nevertheless I am stoked with it!

Smoked LED taillights and an Ebay Yakima look a like roof rack! Not bad for the price.

Alignment time and was hoping to go to Discount Tire right after to get my wheels and tires installed but surprise surprise, they wont be in till Tuesday:yell:
Initially I was gonna run the same wheels and just put bigger tires but the offset on them is so far in that I didn't have much room to clear the upper arm so I decided to order a set of wheels with a different offset that is a little more forgiving.

Installed new Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings on front and rear sway bars. Also installed new front MOOG end links in the rear as they are longer and a lot beefier than stock and also come with grease fitting.

I like your wheel and tire upgrade. It's had to beat a clean looking black 4runner. I had a 1994, pre Taco extended cab, (That I miss and shouldn't have gotten rid of). I was thinking about all the changes over the years Toyota has made with their pickups. How do you like yours? I wouldn't mind getting another somewhere down the line as a second vehicle. Part of me really loves the body style of early 90's pickups from Toyota, but I might be tempted to opt for at least a 3.4 V6 over my old 3.0 V6.

Thanks man! I love my Tacoma, its a 2002 with the 3.4. It will be hard for me to get rid of it, I'd have to find something really nice. I would try and get a first gen Tacoma, you will like the difference in power. The other thing is you don't have to deal with the head gasket nightmare on the 3.0. This 4runner I'm building now runs really good and is good on fuel. It has the 3.4 with a 5 speed. I've had 2 2nd gen 4runners and have really liked them but I would do a 3.4. Be sure and show me what you get once you decide!
