JBA Upper Control Arms On a 3rd Gen?

I also have JBA’s, just took them on a road trip to Ouray and ran a few trails with them for the first time. They gave a much better highway ride and performed awesome off-road.

I just replaced the bushings in my JBA UCAs a few weeks ago. I noticed the outer edge of one of the original bushings was torn. The other 3 were fine but figured I would change them. JBA recently updated their bushing design to improve grease distribution. Seem very nice so far.

They still treating you well? I'm pretty sold on them, glad I found this thread.

Since this thread is still going, I'll chime in. Been running JBAs on my 2000 with the SS1.2 lift for almost a year now. Helped with my alignment and fixed some bump steer that I had been having. I keep up with maintenance on them and haven't had any issues. Still only running 265/75/16 on stock wheels so I can't say much about the larger tires and rubbing, but I have plenty of room.

Just ordered some JBAs a few days ago. Any tips to removing the UBJs? Hoping they come in soon!

I have them on my 1996 runner. SAWEET! Better clearance with my skinny 32" tires and they give the 1" added down travel. Look great and install was easy. They have a new bushing design that is made by them now. It has groves in the outside face to help with bushing "push out" I use a HP moly grease in them and it works great. Here is a picture of when i put them in!
Have as great day all!

I used a ball joint cup set from the parts store, an impact, a big f*ing pipe (6ft), and a grinder to get the steering knuckle disassembled. I used the frozen part trick to get the new retaining piece in (not sure it helped). If I remember correctly, I had some trouble getting them to slide in straight. In the end brute force got it done. Honestly, it had more to do with the sizes of the cups than anything else. I think Timmy the Toolman has some specific info in his ball joint video. If you can remove parts and use a press, go for it. The whole rest of the process was pretty easy.

Good luck. Hit me up if you have questions.

Zero complaints with the product and the company is very helpful and appears passionate about their product.

For example, I got an email telling me its about time to re-grease my bushings based on when I placed the order. Nice surprise

The new bushings are great so far! Certainly cant claim a noticeable performance difference but better grease distribution should equate to longer life.

Good to hear! I don't think I've seen a single negative thing about JBA arms, aside from only being available in red. Blue would be nice to match my Dobinsons, but nothing a rattle can can't fix
Edit: Just now noticing the sockets of the arms have zerk fittings, very convenient

Hey guys, are these control arms appropriate for a non-lifted rig? Mainly the question is if the increased caster would be a problem or not? Running 265/75R16s

I just put them in my '00 with 6112's and 255/75R17 and there's tons of clearance between the wheel and new UCA's. Not only that, but the bump steer that I was getting from the OEM's were virtually eliminated. I also had a "clap" sound during hard cornering and/or decent bumps, which has also gone the way of the buffalo.

I'll be putting on 285/75R16's today, so I'll take clearance pics if you want.

The site says for 1-4 inches of lift, but from what stock height? My 99 was 1/2 inch taller than my 2001 Limited. When I put the brand new 99 Tall springs, it will probably be around 1 inch higher than "stock" but still no taller than a stock 99...

I have 99 coils on Bilstein 4600s. Can you judge how this compares to "stock"?

Being mindful that my new setup shares a near identical hub centerline, here's the difference in gap between a 255/75 and 285/75:

255/75R17 Goodyear Duratrac - 17x7 +15 offset - 1" spacer

285/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT/3 - 16x8 -10 offset - No spacer

TONS OF ROOM! :pimp:

What's the max amount of caster one could run with these? Or what's recommended, rather? 3in TRD lift up front

Curious about this as well since I just picked up 35’s. Right now I set my LCA cams so that I gain the maximum amount of positive caster (gives a ton more wheel clearance at the firewall), then I set my toe so that the steering wheel is perfect and the wheels are straight within a 1/32 of an inch. Installing JBA UCAs on Sunday then I’ll go to an alignment shop and I’m going to try and tell them to mess with the LCA cams as little as possible but still get me within spec.. It rides really good as is already though so I’m hoping they won’t even have to adjust anything..

Here's my alignment sheet right after installing my JBAs. Running 285/75r16 16x8 with 4.5 backspacing rims

If anyone is having boot cracking issues you can just email them and they'll get you on a list for new pleated poly boots that they'll be shipping out in a few weeks. I installed my arms in November and they maybe have under 200 miles and the boots are cracking so i'll be looking forward to the new boots.

Interesting. Just got mine a week or two ago. I wonder if it'll apply

Just installed my JBAs this weekend and on top of the extra inch of downtravel I somehow gained an inch of lift up front? Not sure how that would be possible, but the tape measure doesn't lie. I always measured from underneath this corner of the fender flares, and it's gone from 30in to 31in.
Moved the knuckle much further away from the strut at full droop, which is great as I never properly oriented the TRD coils so they would hit, but not anymore!
Call me crazy but it seems like my driver's side lean is much less now too. All in all very happy with them.
