So, I’ve had all of the wiring done for the new rearview mirror for a while. But it’s been pretty cold lately and I think the temps have been my issue with trying to mount the mirror to the windshield. After three tries and three install kits, I gave up and paid $15 for a pro to do the install.
Loving the new mirror though!
Does your mirror interfere with your visors? I'm looking to get a new multi-function mirror soon and I've read that most new mirrors are a bit too wide. Any suggestions on wire kits for your Gentex 313? Thanks!

It's definitely wider than the stock mirror. Mine is centered on the glass and does limit the forward travel of the drivers side visor, but it doesn't bother me enough to mess with it. If the mirror were offset to the passengers side maybe another inch, it wouldn't limit the travel of the drivers side visor.
I bought mine from this guy on eBay. It came with the kit. If you already have a mirror, he might sell you the kit you need. I contacted him before I purchased with questions and he pointed me to the item I needed.

Just checking with an updated pic after the rear coil swap from OME 906's to OME 890's. Loving it so far. It's got enough rake to handle the times when I have additional passengers or gear. Seems to ride better for everyday use too.
That looks great! Super clean and simple.

And I think most of my upcoming free time might be pre-occupied with a new project car. I bought back this Audi CQ that I regrettably sold about 4 years ago.
As for T4R content, the 4Runner did pretty well towing it from central Kansas to NE Oklahoma. Although, it was slow going with a strong headwind.

It's hard to believe it's been 3-1/2 years since I posted an update here, but I've barely done anything to my 4Runner but drive it since then. It's been very reliable, but it recently started having issues that needed to be addressed.
Off and on I had been experiencing a semi-violent clunck in the drivetrain when shifting from park to drive during cold weather. I noticed that if I were to first put it in reverse, then shift to drive, it would not do it. But after a while, even that didn't help much. Searching through the old threads lead me to a couple causes: 1) under lubricated joints on the driveshafts or 2) leaky axle seal(s) causing the rear brakes to stick.
I lived with it for a while, but a few weeks ago the MPGs were really taking a dive. From an average of about 17.5 to about 14 to 15. With work and too much to do around the house, I decided to take it to a shop, rather than do it myself. And since I was going to be out of town for a week, I went ahead and gave them the go ahead to do some other stuff, while they had it. Here's a list...
Needless to say, my wallet was hurting after all of that. But I am glad to have it back and it's much more enjoyable to drive now. My project car was holding my jack stands hostage for almost 2 years. So with them freed up and a some new shop space, I hope to do some more wrenching on the 4Runner myself in the near future.

- Timing belt service
- Cam seals
- Valve cover gaskets
- New steering rack (bushings and inner tie rods were shot)
- Rear axle seals
- Rear drums, shoes, wheel cylinders
- Front brake lines
- LF axle
