JBL speakers

Hey all, I did the forum searches and could not find any info about the difference between stock JBL speakers vs stock non. Has anyone that has non JBL head unit ever switched out the speakers to JBL? In the searches I see that there are several aftermarket speaker options to consider, some requiring additional amps and others using stock head units with varying results. Over the years (alot of them) I've installed numerous audio upgrades starting with FM converters and 8tracks in the 60's and 70's to headunits with cd's, usb ports and bluetooth capabilities, some with additional amps that higher quality speakers require to drive for optimal performance. What I'm asking is if I can locate and install JBL's would there be any sound quality difference? My intention is to dynomat the doors during the installation process which I'm sure will help the overall tinny sound when closing same. I don't want to change the stock headunit that works ok (except the way toyota has chosen for access to music on a stick) to aftermarket. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. They aren't much of an upgrade over the base speakers and the JBL system uses a separate amp to power everything. There are OEM fit options available from companies such as Focal and you can swap out the OEM dash tweeters with Kickers from a Subaru.

OEM Audio + is another option for just door speakers or a full system.

I bought Polk Audio 6x9 coax speakers for the front doors and 6.5 coax speakers for the rear doors from Crutchfield, and they were plug and play because of what Crutchfield includes.

I don’t use any of the 5 factory tweeters anymore, and I don’t miss them one bit.

In my opinion, you are much better off with high quality aftermarket speakers than with the “JBL” speakers that come from Toyota.

I have done full systems (head unit, amp(s), speakers and all system wiring) in three or four cars now.

Thanks for the response snapper, I already replaced the dash speakers with the subaru one's and found them to be an overall improvement with some mids and highs that the stocks couldn't produce. I intend to replace the drivers while sound deadening as I mentioned and thought factory JBL's might help. I found in my searches that there are quite a few aftermarket options that should work with the stock head and amp setup, focals being ones that were discussed often, also kickers seemed to be mentioned frequently. I've been an Alpine fan for years but can't seem to find one's that fit without headunit replacement and/or the addition of an amp. The factory setup is ok but not what I'm used to, just looking for a small upgrade in better quality sound. Again thanks, Mike
