JBL to Scion Head Unit Problem

Hey guys just bought a 2003 SR5 4Runner.

I have been poking around the forums and thought I found a solution to get Aux input for the stereo. I found a T1815 on eBay for a good price. I soldered a USB cable to the inputs ( as seen here.)

After taking the stock unit out I found that the Scion radio does not plug and play. The connectors are completely different.

What are my options here? I tried searching but I found nothing that I could follow. Is there a cable adapter I can plug in between the two? Or do I need to go searching eBay again? These forums are awesome but the information is difficult to search for.

The jbl units have different connecters and you just found out. Its b/c the jbl unit run to an amp. You need an adaptor to run the scion unit.

Make sure you turn the JBL's volume to the max before you disconnect it.

I think the updated instructions link suggest turning it up 3/4. I turned mine up to the max and then had problems with no sound when I installed mine. When I called PAC they were made a big deal about it being at 3/4 so I did and haven't had any problem since. It really doesn't make sense to me why you have to do that, but obviously it can have impact.

Did u end up getting this installed?

I'm looking at the same unit to upgrade from the jbl head unit. Was hoping the size of it would slot in to the dash easy with no modifications,,

Did u Keep the steering wheel controls?
