I have read though every forum post on this and did not get the exact answers I need.. Sorry about reposting this topic..

Does anyone know for sure if I can replace my busted USDM motor with a JDM motor without a new wiring harness? Does the year matter? What other serious challenges will I face?

Yes you can replace your USDM motor with a JDM motor. You will need some parts off the USDM motor like the throttle body maybe some sensors ect, just swap over anythjng that is needed from your old motor. Do a timing belt and water pump on the new motor. Your old wiring harness will work 100% just swap any different sensors cause there may be 1 or 2. You want to stay in the say year brackets ie 96-98 99-02 if possible.

I wold also recommend you read that thread - then DON'T buy JDM.

There are enough good running USDM motors out there and you should be able to find one locally - these motors don't fail that much so demand is not high.

JDM engines are a big risk and if I ever bought one again it would only be a LAST RESORT - like a motor that is not available in the USA.

- and I didn't even get screwed 1/2 as bad as the guy in that thread.
