That spoiler does look pretty sick! That mirror on it would be quite useful since I gotta parallel park at school whenever I drive.

Installed the field monitor today:
No point in doing a write up as there are already like 10; I just followed one of them and had no issues.
PFM switch:
Really jealous of the power folding mirrors, do you plan on wiring them to the alarm at all?

I was feeling motivated so I started to swap them awhile; hit a minor snag. Like most of the JDM PFM installs I've done, if you want the mirrors to be even remotely usable you need to use the USDM mirror mounts with the JDM mirror shell/mirror, if, of course, you can mount them to each other. The JDM mirror shell flange isn't a 100% direct fit into the USDM mirror mount, so it'll need some surgery to make it fit.
Also, it dawned on me that i'll be giving up my heated mirrors as part of the swap, as the JDM PFM's don't have heating elements in them.
I'll get some pictures later tonight.

I feel like I'm spamming my own thread, but in any event...

Which, clearly, is what everyone really cares about. I had to revert to using all JDM parts, unfortunately the Toyota engineers did not forsee someone with too much free time trying to mount JDM mirrors on the UDSM mount. There is a very minor, like 2-3mm difference in the 3 mounting boss locations, so even after I made the JDM mirror fit into the USDM mount, it was only possible to get 1 of the 3 screws in at once, and it wasn't feasible to modify the mount or mirror any further to make it work. So luckily, I didn't go crazy with the hack saw and I could still use the JDM mirror and mount without any adverse effects. So for anyone that ever attempts this again, USE ALL JDM PARTS!

And here's the wiring, it is so simple (compared to every other PFM install I've done - Supra, MR2 & WRX).
Remove 2 pins for mirror heating elements from the harness side of the mirror connector (it's hard to see from the picture, but it will be the wider pin and the pin next to it - when you look at the connector you'll know exactly which two I'm talking about) and replace with 2 pins from JDM harness pigtails (brown w/ red tracer and brown w/ black tracer):
I left my 2 heater element wires shrink wrapped and taped up incase I ever revert to USDM mirrors.
Next is to take the two brown wires/pins from the JDM mirror control connector. The two locations you take them from on the JDM connector are open on USDM harness connector, so simply drop them in there:
From here you simply run 2 ~12" wires to the drivers side mirror, and 2 wires across under the dash and into the passenger door for the mirror over there. It is the same process for that mirror as the drivers side (remove the 2 heater pins, etc. etc.).
I'm out of wire otherwise I would have finished the passenger mirror tonight. When I finish it tomorrow, I'll take a couple pics of how to pull the pins out of the connectors (it's really easy once you see it done once).
In case anyone is wondering, with the full JDM mirror and mount on the driver side, the visibilty is kinda sucky, you need to lean forward to get full view of the drivers side area (I had to do the same thing in my Supra with the PFM's...you get used to it and tend to just look over your shoulder more). I suspect the pass side will probably be fine.

JohnsD90 - Touché. But I'm going for the uber-jdm-leet, and it isn't possible to get there without PFM's. Truth be told, I have a PFM addiction, every Japanese car I own must have them...I probably need to drink more (or go to some kind of JDM rehab) so I stop wasting money on PFM's.

Nice PFMs!! Wanted to add them to my Accord but couldn't find a complete set.
We on this side of the pond never get the cool stuff for the automobiles like in Europe and Japan.

LHD and RHD mirror bases are angled differently; so using the RHD mirror bases angles the drivers mirror to far inward, so that even after fully tilting the mirror to the left (away from the door), only about 1/3 of the mirror glass is actually showing the road behind the truck, the rest is still looking at the side of the truck. The simplest way to explain it is that you will need to look over your left shoulder instead of using the mirror if traffic is close to the truck. You could probably put one of those convex stick on mirror things on the mirror glass to improve the visibility, but it will be barely adequate compared to the proper LHD mirror.
