I don't know that clicking is a bad thing, but hearing and seeing is certainly better than online guessing. Know someone who can give you an opinion in person?

Yep. I can ask one of my neighbors this afternoon! He has done a lot of front end maintenance on cars.

So after talking to my neighbors about what the clicking could be, they both suggested I just change out the cv axles. I decided to go with the CVJ Remans after quite a bit of research. I heard some great things about them and a few not so great, so I really hope they hold up! I went with the extended inner silicone boots as well just to be safe.
This was my first time dealing with cvs, so it took me quite a while for the first one. The toughest part of the entire thing was getting the hub dust caps off. I broke my small screwdriver in the process...thank goodness for Craftsman!
The inner boot on the driver's side axle had also broken, so I got to have fun cleaning up all of the grease that it had thrown out.
In total, it took me about 2.5 hours to complete from tires off to on. Here are a couple of pics from last night!

I'll try and get a picture of the angle now that it has settled back down!

Thank you! It's sweet that we are building them up similar on opposite coasts.
I got the CV axles from www.cvjreman.com. They advertise that they are OEM remanufactured. I paid $150 per axle including the extended boots and a $75 core charge on each as well.

I won't be on this coast for long. The CVJs are on my to do list since I have lifted it, and everything else.

Where are you going to go? And I would definitely do them sooner rather than later. Mine was toast by the time I got under there.

Well bummer for not a reboot, but I like the looks of what you came up with! Not a bad amount of time for a first go-round, either. :thumb:
It'll be interesting to see if the boot fins rub each other once you've got it on the ground and how well the extended silicone boots work out.

As far as the CV clicking goes... My passenger side axle started clicking about 6 months ago and after a day it exploded! My guess it was caused by it being at too much of an angle.

That's nuts! The passenger side started clicking when I bought it, but it never blew up. My driver side just started clicking and it definitely blew up shortly after.

I just looked through your build. Nice job, looking great! If recommend lowering your adjustable coil overs a bit. Over time the rubbing boots will cause a tear. I have the exact same set up... The boots are pretty tough, but you don't want to set them up for failure. Just lower your front end a bit just enough to get rid of the rubbing. I still have plenty of lift, and no boot rubbing.... Very close... But no rubbing. Have 33k on cvj's and ultimate lift with no issues.

Well I have not been doing too much on the car recently since I am getting back into the groove of school, but I have been trying to diagnose an overheating problem with my car. I replaced the radiator, WP and thermostat this summer with OEM parts, so I am a little stumped. I was going to see if the fan clutch would move after it is hot later tonight once I drove around for a little bit.
I went backpacking north of Yosemite though in Emigrant Wilderness which was a great time! Here are a few of the better pictures from the trip. Unfortunately I did not get any of the the 4runner.

What did this set of axles run you? I'm thinking about picking up a set but there isn't any prices on their website.

They cost me $100 per axle and the another $50 for each extended red boot. This is all after a $75 core charge per axle.
