Well it's been awhile since my last post, but I have't really had anything to update since I've been at school...and I'm broke.
Last weekend our off-roading club in SLO had their first big trip of the year at Hollister Hills SVRA. It was the first time I really got to test out the Toytec suspension I put in over the summer, and I can definitely say it was a good investment for the budget I set. I was able to clear quite a few obstacles in the lower obstacle course, but couldn't make it through Jungle Run all the way through. Luckily I had the Savage skids on or else my diff would have been very unhappy...

This weekend I completed the Big 3 and I added the Blue Sea 12 Circuit Fuse Block with a 100A circuit breaker. I could not have done this without [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION]'s write-up...The fuse block took me the longest since I wanted to mount it in the right rear of my engine bay which meant I had to fab up a bracket. I got a sheet of 1/4" 6061 and cut it to the dimensions I wanted on the mill and had a friend tig it all together. I was nervous about how well I would weld the plates together, so I didn't want to risk it.
The bracket turned out great!
I drilled all of the pilot holes in my firewall and got the circuit breaker mounted and wired.
I mounted the bracket right above it using some sheet metal screws. I was going to use the nut that holds in the bracket above it, but the hood would interfere with the fuse block too much.
The hood still hits the fuse block a tiny bit once you close it, but it should be alright for now. I just wanted it all installed.
Here are a couple pics of the entire engine bay with the Big 3 wires and the fuse block!
The CB radio is the only thing wired into the fuse block, but I'm hoping to add more soon!

Well I got into my first car accident today! The other driver and myself were completely fine, but the cars could definitely be better. Happy Thanksgiving to me! I am thankful for my hitch though since it saved my rear end from being completely smashed in. On the surface, the lift gate is completely smashed in and the bumper is creased a bit. I'll find out the underneath damage next week when I get back to school and take it to the certified shop. I'm hoping to put an aftermarket bumper on in the process, so we will see how this all works! Maybe the collision was a blessing in disguise...

You could clean up that + battery post with a jl or rocksford battery terminal clamp.
I got rear ended by an old lady no damage to me and she didnt want to report it so I just let her go. She hit me at a stop, think she lifted off the gas a bit. I thought my dog was jumping around in the back. Should have use it for a new bumper.
my insurance gave a guy 1500 when my wife rolled into someone. I buff out the scuff for him too.

Cleaning up the battery terminal is definitely next on my list. I don't like all the clutter right there! You definitely should have gotten a bumper out of the deal! I'll see what the shop can do next week, but hopefully they say it's alright!

Thanks! I'll find out tomorrow what I will be able to get after the other driver's insurance company comes and estimates it. The only thing I'm bummed about with the whole thing is that I can't use my cargo space since the door is jammed... Oh well

It definitely could have been. I was quoted at 66% of the car's value...so not totaled! I'll be getting the lift gate repaired next week and I'll order a CBI rear plate bumper in the near future! Can't wait to get it all installed and have some left over money too.

Just a quick update...
I ordered the CBI rear plate bumper!! :reddance: I cannot wait till I can put it on. Hopefully sometime next week. The 4runner will also be going into the shop for the next week to repair the lift gate. In the meantime I get to drive a Kia Rio...

Let's just say it'll be a fun week with it haha.
I opted to get just the bumper to save some money. I talked with the guys at CBI and they said I could always add the swing out later on, so I figured that was the best option! I could add it when I needed the accessories or the ability to carry a full size spare.

Makes sense, does the swing out just bolt on?

I would have to weld the swing out spindle, but I don't know about the receiver. I think that side gets bolted, but I could be completely wrong.

I may have to look into this, it would certainly lessen the blow of that bumper if it's not all bought at once.

That was exactly my thought and the main reason I decided to go with this one. I talked to some other companies that make the swing outs, and most of them said I had to order them together since there was "absolutely no way" of getting them separately. Their loss!

Congrats on the bumper purchase. I can relate to the feeling. I was really excited when I ordered mine.
As for the swing out, the spindle just welds on one end and you'll have to either weld or bolt on the attachment point for the latch on the other. I don't know how the attachment part goes onto the bumper. This is assuming they're still using the latch method, which I'm sure they are. It's an easy addition for later down the line and like Unner said, it definitely lessens the blow when you're already purchasing a high cost item.
