That's probably me. I'm over in that area 3 or 4 times a week! And thanks! I'm really stoked about it. I'll try and post some pictures up tonight or tomorrow. There's one guy that lives down the street with me with a CBI and swing-out. It's pretty sweet!

Well after 2 full days of prep and a few hours for the install, I was finally able to mount up my CBI rear plate bumper with [MENTION=105159]rossgoldie[/MENTION]! This thing is absolutely incredible and I could not be more happy!
The prep part of the install was a little less than desirable with all of the rust and whatnot. I thought it was going to be a breeze after getting the first couple of bolts loose for the hitch until I sheared a bolt head off. I decided to push through though and tackle the bumper, thinking that I would have more luck...which I did. I had to cut through the mounting brackets to get the bumper initially off and then smack the remaining bits of the bracket around till they came right off. Both bolts on the driver side are still in there spots, but they do not move around so I wasn't too worried about it. Once the bumper was off, I decided to call it a night and tackle the rest on Wednesday.
Wednesday, I dove right in to the studs that broke. I tried drilling through them, which took a couple of hours, to use an easy-out but they were stuck on there real good.:frusty: After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to drill through the close tack welds and beat them with a maul and chisel. You can see their remains below!
After getting everything removed, I wire wheeled my frame and gave it a nice coat of paint to make it look nice again. The actual install of the bumper was extremely straightforward and did not take much time at all. Below are some pictures from the demo and install as well as the start of wiring in my trans temp gauge!

Next up is finishing the trans temp gauge wiring and to re-badge my car! But first, I get to go snowboarding in Tahoe tomorrow. :biggrin2:

That bumper looks killer on there! Makes me want one for my black runner. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with rust... I think I'm gonna wait and see how the redesigned Savage one looks once it is released and then make a decision. Could you post a couple pics of how it mounts to the frame?

Thank you! Tahoe was a lot of fun! It's always a good time when it's the first day of my season! You have some pretty sweet mountains over in CO though, so I'm pretty jealous of that...

Thanks Unner! I think it looks pretty sexy. I could only snap one pic of how it's mounted before the rain picked back up, but it gets all of the bolts in there. It bolts right into the stock hitch location plus one bolt that goes through the side.
Don't mind the salty mud that's everywhere right now.

The hole is already there in the frame. If you look past that bolt, you can see another open hole that is just like it. Very easy to install.

I decided to tackle my tranny temp gauge yesterday. It probably isn't completely necessary to have, but it would give me piece of mind. It took me a couple of hours to mock up the spot and wire it all in. I spliced in to the CB power wire for the gauge power, but I want to add a switch or a relay to it so it turns off with the car. Here's some pictures from it.

My friend from school was working on a cool project for one of his classes and made this Hitch Hider. They're pretty sweet and can hold your keys and other items inside of the hitch, and it locks up using a combination lock. Here's a link to their page!

I got a pair of Rigid Duallys and the CBI ditch light brackets for Christmas! :roll: Yesterday I was able to mount them up and wire everything. It didn't take too long at all and they have great light output from what I have seen so far. I think they look pretty great too! Only some trimming was needed for the switch and the plastic trim piece in front of the windshield. I can try and take a side picture tomorrow!

I got to play around some more in Hollister yesterday with a couple of my friends and it was super muddy! It was still a ton of fun and I got to do some new trails too. Taking off the mud today was absolutely ridiculous and took quite a bit of time, but it's mostly clean now!

Now that school has started up again for the quarter things will be going slow, but I do have a little update! I wired in a relay I got from McMaster last weekend that will turn on the accessory fuse block only when the car is on. Now if I leave something on by accident, my car will still be alive! I also added the light to the trans temp gauge since it now turns off when the keys out.

Thank you! It has been a ton of fun building it up the past year. I keep trying to save money, but it just ends up in this car for some reason... I'm sure you'll enjoy yours and I can't wait to see it!
Unfortunately I do not have the factory locker, but I'm looking to get one sometime this year from the junker. Either that or an ARB one!

Just got the approval from my school adviser to design and manufacture a front bumper for my senior design project!! I am beyond stoked. It'll be a long process to document everything and reverse engineer the car, but it will definitely be worth it! :zoom:

Well I was going to go to King of the Hammers down in Johnson Valley tonight to see the big race tomorrow, but my professor decided to have a test tomorrow. In preparation for it, I wanted to make a quick sleeping extension for my cargo box. It was really quick and dirty so I plan on redoing it once I have a little more time. This is what it looks like, and it is just short for me by about an inch (I'm 6'4"). It also held me up pretty well, but once I add the second side and better feet it will be much more stable.

School has been getting in the way of designing the front bumper, but I was able to work on it a ton over spring break. ! I can't wait to get the first prototype built to check for clearance and fitment. Here is a quick look at what it looks like so far!
