It definitely might have! Being a little lower could have helped to, but I had a pretty standard lift height on it. Nothing too aggressive.

I know right?! Luckily we are all okay minus being a little sore. I sent you a text on Monday or so and was wondering why you didn't respond! Hope you're having fun in Mexico dude. I'm hopefully going to be checking out some 4runners on Saturday. I'll know what insurance is going to give me on Friday, and I'll go from there!

Hopefully they offer you something decent, but remember, you can always argue for more if they try and low ball you. You had a clean fairly low mileage truck.

I'll let you all know what they come back with. I also had $5K of extra coverage for aftermarket parts, so I hope they come back with something reasonable too!

I should look into something like that too for covering my aftermarket parts, I've been meaning to do so for awhile.
 
Well...I bought a new one yesterday! I didn't think I would find one as soon as I did, but I am definitely happy with the purchase. I found this one on a lot in Santa Cruz after checking one out earlier in the day in Dublin. It's a 2001 SR5 Sport with 4wd in Millennium Silver with 215,000 miles.. The color keeps throwing me off since I'm so used to the black, but I'm sure it will grow on me quickly. Unfortunately the engine was completely detailed, so it will be hard to tell if anything is wrong with it for quite some time...at least it looks nice. It does have nice maintenance records from the dealer with 2 timing belts and water pumps done on time! The best part about it so far is no rust whatsoever! I am excited to see how this next one will turn out. I'm sure much better than the last. So I guess this is the end of this build thread, and I will start working on the next one. Most of my parts will make their way over to the next build, but I'll probably be selling a few things and starting fresh. Who knows!

Sorry dude! We got to the lot pretty late and had to rush back for the Shark's game. I forgot how long it takes to buy a car haha.

But thanks! I'm pretty sure this came off of the lot that we were talking about a couple days ago. In person, the guy was super nice but definitely pushy.

Everything looks great on it so far! I forgot how nice it was to drive a completely stock car. It feels so much quicker and the ride is actually nice! I talked to the insurance guy, and they will be giving me the full $5K extra, bringing the total to around $12K. Not too bad in the end! While I will be coming out ahead on the purchase of the new 4Runner at $9,300 out the door ($8,250 for just the car), I definitely lost some money due to maintenance and the parts I won't be able to recover. I'll be using some of that surplus for some common maintenance like the timing belt, water pump, radiator and fluids just for piece of mind.

Thanks! I was itching to buy another one a couple days after. I figured why would I buy something different just to want another 4Runner down the road? So I skipped that whole step entirely. :biggrin1:

In other news...I just bought some goodies in the suspension department which will come in the next few weeks or so. All of my bushings, ball joints, and other components already made it in the mail, so I am definitely getting antsy about it! Once I start taking more pictures and actually doing something with the new one, I'll probably make a new thread.
 
So just to clarify... The first few pictures you posted when you got the 265/75/16's on you didnt have any lift on correct? I actually really like the way they look like that. I was planning on getting a 3" lift with the 265's but maybe I should get the tires on first and see if I like it. Also, what was your gas mileage with the 265's before the lift? Thanks! Love the build!! :p:

Yes, that is correct. I really liked the way they looked without the lift, but they seemed small once I added it. I was getting around 15.5 mpg, but that includes armor, lift, and other weight.

And thanks! It was a ton of fun, and I'm bummed that it's gone. Definitely happy about the new one though.
