Just wanted to say hi to the new forum. I'm the new owner of a 2010 black 4Runner, trail ed. this is my 4th Toyota, first SUV. Previously i had a 95.5, 2001, and 2005 Tacoma's. I was a member under the same name at toyotanation, and tacomaworld.

looking forward to helping with mods, learning mods, etc. first off this thing needs lifted. i have my 285 BFG Mud-Terrains from the Taco sitting on black moto metals waiting for a lift. I'm also hoping my TC UCA's fit the runner, they look to be the same, so i'll see soon enough. here is a pic of my tacoma right before trading it, so expect similar soon enough with the runner.

Welcome to the forum ...from Indy....

Go Colts!

thanks. had to go there didn't you! the only positive i have is at least we lost to the probable super bowl winners. but i must say i'll be rooting for the jets, vikings, or saints when that day comes.

Welcome to the forum congrats on your 4Runner and rememer if your name is Peyton Manning you can drop back, look around have a cup of coffee and then throw the ball in the ground all in only 2 secs which gives you enough time for another play resulting in a TD..........

Can you tell me what kind of tires you are going to run? I'm thinking of upgrading the stock Trail tires. Do you think a 285-70-17 will fit?

Congrats and Welcome to the forum Jesse1983:hello:

Did you get KDSS on your TE? Curious to find out how a lift affects it as you will be the first that I know of to do any kind of external mod on a TE. Alot of talk on bigger tires/lifts on the forum but not much action.Out of all the 5th Gen's on the forum,I think only a couple of us have done any suspension mods.
Good Luck and looking forward to working with you on mods!!
Even though I am a big Steeler fan, being from the "Burgh"

sitting in the garage right now i have 285/70/17 BFG Mud-Terrain (same as pictured on my Taco in this thread). Just looking at the truck stock i will not try and shove these on until i get a lift. While i decide on my lift i will probably have my black moto metals (also pictured on the taco above) mounted on the stock tires this weekend, just because i hate chrome.

thanks harper, glad to be here.

yes, my TE does have KDSS. I'm still learning about it, but from what i understand about it, i cant see how a suspension lift will mess with it. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but my understanding is that the system will not engage unless a wheel drops substantially lower than another. so i would assume if the entire suspension is lifted, the tires will stain remain even, until one drops and the system engages. don't know if you've seen this video, but take a look:

YouTube - KDSS in the 2010 Toyota 4Runner - Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System

Also, i talked to Doug @ toytec yesterday and he said they have not seen a problem lifting them. I'm most likely going to add adjustable coil overs to the front, along with my total chaos UCA's (which look like they will fit perfectly). Haven't decided how i want to lift the rear yet.

i'm very sorry to hear you're a steeler fan :happens: the best part of us beating the raiders was when they said "well there goes Pitt's chance!"

Hey Jesse,
Did Doug say that Toytec has lifted 5th Gen. Trail Edition's with KDSS already?
or Lexus LX470's with KDSS(pretty sure they are air suspension)?
or that they already lifted 5th Gen's? I'm sure they will figure it out!

Here is another video on KDSS, they mention that they are electronically controlled hydraulic accumulators . What inputs are they using to control them?Lifting changes the angle of the swaybar and swaybar endlink, right?

I'm pretty sure the X-REAS 5th Suspension is a passive system without electronic input.
