JK's Multi-Purpose Sport Build (PIC HEAVY)
I've been on here a little over a year and I've finally gotten the guts to start a build thread thanks to some prodding from [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] . My 4Runner is designed to be used as a multi-purpose rig, a moderate wheeler that is comfortable enough to DD and that can be used as a people hauler, camper, or hunting truck. I got it with 144k miles on 9/29/14 when I purchased it with some help from my father. Yes I'm actually 17. The only thing my parents have helped me with is the initial purchase, everything else is money I worked for. I'm fairly mechanically inclined so that helped a lot with installing/building everything myself. Well enough about me here's some pictures of the rig.
CURRENT PICTURE:
This was right after I bought it, a Black 2002 Sport Edition 4Runner.
The first thing I did was purchase a Defender rack and Hella Rallye 4000s and fabbed up some mounts to use the existing rails. I then Plasti-Dipped my stock sport wheels which held up fairly well. If you guys are interested I could post some pictures of what the mounts look like.
Then came the lift, a Bilstein/Tundra/OME lift that netted me about 3 inches in the rear and 2.75 in the front, then came new tires, 285/75/16 Toyo AT2s
After that I thought it'd be a great idea to take it mudding! Boy was I ever wrong...... As soon as I realized I was stuck and couldn't get out I cut the engine to keep from sucking water in the intake which was about 2 inches underwater. I was pulled out about 30 minutes later by a Dodge Cummins that STRUGGLED to get me out. My entire interior had to be pulled out and cleaned, but the only thing that was actually hurt was my starter. I cleaned it out, put new contacts in, and it was as good as new. I think it's safe to say I never went back.
