Jolts when accelerating?

Hey guys I've noticed a new issue with my 2000 5sp manual 4Runner. This happens in every gear besides first gear. When accelerating under 2500 RPMs, there's jolts during acceleration. After 2500 RPMs everything is fine. I just changed the clutch about 10,000 miles ago. I'm a pretty experienced manual transmission driver so I don't think I've damaged the clutch in anyway. There's no slipping. Just serious jolts under 2500 RPMs.

Has anyone experienced this before? What is the problem?

During acceleration, I would normally have constant power. But now during acceleration and under 2500 RPMs, it feels like there's a loss of power for a second then back to normal, then loses power for a second, and back to normal again. This happens all the way until pass 2500 RPMs.
 
Sounds like a misfire. When was the last time the plugs were replaced? and/or a full tune up? like the fuel filter and such.
 
If you are going to clean the MAF, Might as well do the TB as well. Also Plug Wires are part of that Tune-Up/Preventative maintenance. Also including but not limited to (As they tend to last a very long time)are the coil packs. But like I said and have read that they hardly go out(Unlike the ones in my Audis :dammit: ) ..

Just got back from the Toyota dealership. The mechanic at the parts department said I should only need to change the spark plugs given my symptoms. He also said according to the manufacturer, I should never have to change the fuel filter as Toyota's fuel filter has a lifetime warranty. In fact, they don't even stock fuel filters.

Do you agree with that?

Yeah, I also have a bridge to sell ya, REAL CHEAP too!!! :ybrick:

But seriously, you should replace it, if you haven't done so. Something to accompany those new shiny spark plugs. Also, remember if you are replacing the plugs, might as well do the wires too. that way you reassure yourself that everything is working as it should, and the spark is being conducted properly.

Thanks for your help! How do I change the spark plug wires? Is it as simple as buying new spark plug wires, disconnecting the old ones, and re-connecting the new ones?

You only have 3 plug wires that go from the coils on the passenger side to the plugs on the driver side. Piece of cake to replace, just have to make sure you put them back in the correct order. Color-coded diagram, the wires aren't actually this color...

Do a search on 'NGK 4412 TE66 Wire Set' and you should come up with the plug wires you need.

Thank you! I did a google search and I think I found the correct product at the best price. Are these it?

Thanks for all your help! Swapped out the spark plugs and wires. It probably was a long time since the spark plugs were changed. The old ones looked completely worn. Runs totally smooth acceleration now. I just love it when everything works. :zoom:
