Your so right Miah. I've been doing research and this mod is complex. There's measuring backlash, markings, shims...dang I'm all confused. This weekend sounds good. Hope I get the gears this week and let you know...most likely sunday. THEN I'LL COME FOR THE MOD PARTY THE WEEKEND AFTER!!! HEHE!!

Yeah, if you keep reading that damn FSM your really gonna be confused, we're not doing all that backlash runout shit cause we are replacing those parts you can just use that as reference to what's all involved for the job and the process of of all what comes apart in what order and for torque specs.
We will only be making match marks everywhere so evrything gets lined up and put back exactly like it came out ...just like we were never there so it all stays in the sequence it last was when you parked it....so we don't have to do all the mumbo jumbo crap.
I will email you a video...it's the one I used, along with the FSM and how to write up another member sent me.

we're not doing all that backlash runout shit cause we are replacing those parts you can just use that as reference to what's all involved for the job and the process of of all what comes apart in what order and for torque specs.

So you're saying it's not like a Chevy 14 bolt when you have to freeze the pinion shaft overnight then discover it's too big to fit in your press.

Then you have to use a bunch of clamps to press it into place.

Then spend time taking shims in and out to get it placed correctly.

Cursing and kicking all the way until you finally test it on a 40lb load and get this.

Is that what you are saying?

24th -25th works for me not a problem sounds like we got ourselves a mod party going on at my house then...glad I was invited, Lol.

I think that day we can do all the basic mod projects, diff breathers, suspensions, etc....

As far as [MENTION=133319]MACT4R[/MENTION] locker and re gear install (whole rear end tear down) that should be done seperately cause that will take majority of the day and requires ones full attention with no interruptions and getting side tracked or jerkin around causing to forget a step or marking something properly, well ...it's his entire rear end, driveline, axles etc and its kinda important part of the rig, You mess up one thing you don't get to find that out until it's all reassembled and back to gather for a road test, which can be an uneasy moment...that one thing or minor missed detail means tearing it all down again back to the very last step ....not cool. If it was my rig I wouldn't be drinking and eating with my buddy's during that project.
I say rear end 16-17 or whenever day you wanna pick I will make myself available for that day ... but I wouldn't do that during a mod party.

Don't change it on my account, if the majority prefers a Saturday then go for it. I'll probably start installing stuff this Sunday. I have a long list to do. LCAs, amber pods, rear diff breather, and I want to start the build on my cargo boxes for tools/camping gear and platform to tie the fridge down.

1. I see that you have CB radios freqs listed, do most people who make runs with this group go with CB, ham, or both? Trying to look into my options.

2. Based on the feedback about being stock, i started looking into lifts. i know there are a million threads about which lift is best etc. but for the trails around here in so cal, would spacers be enough for the 1 weekend run a month, or should i save up a bit more for a proper coil over setup? i know long term coil overs will be better, but can't quite afford a full kit now. this is a 2wd DD so i dont know how that factors in.

1. I run both, but it seems that more people have been picking up the handheld baefongs. License required to transmit (but most don't have one) but no license required to receive.

2. Some lift is better than none. Generally most of the stuff we've been on has been stock height friendly, and we have plenty of people who can spot you through obstacles if there's a concern about clearance.

First time I've seen anything get organized for a mod day on here. If you want to learn to get stuff done and have enough experienced people around to ask for help, I'd try to make it. Hard to say when another one will get hosted, and Miah's been gracious enough to offer up his place this time around.
