July 2016 Meet and Run

Sorry guys for the noob questions but i got a couple more:

1. I see that you have CB radios freqs listed, do most people who make runs with this group go with CB, ham, or both? Trying to look into my options.

2. Based on the feedback about being stock, i started looking into lifts. i know there are a million threads about which lift is best etc. but for the trails around here in so cal, would spacers be enough for the 1 weekend run a month, or should i save up a bit more for a proper coil over setup? i know long term coil overs will be better, but can't quite afford a full kit now. this is a 2wd DD so i dont know how that factors in.

I'll chime in on these questions too
(1) def better to have both but lately all of our comms have been on ham, as drunner said you need a liscence but most of us are still studying and only recieve transmissions ;)
(2) Imo and I'm sure I'm not alone, sliders and a locker will help you out much more than just a lift (esp in 2wd). But some more clearance won't hurt but I would make armor a priority

If it's ok I'd like to attend. I have some tools I can bring. I've been building a metric set for a little while since I bought the 4runner. I have had this lift sitting here for way to long.

85straight said it perfectly...mainly based on the 2wd factor so that you don't ever have to count yourself out when on the trail ..get a Spartan locker $250 bucks

Oh Oh! Look what came! Good this sunday? Oneluv13T4R

Count me in for the run and maybe the mod day.

I don't really have any mods, just got done with new axle seals and bearings. Clean/replace and or move your diff breather valves!

Miah - what repairs did you have other than the shock?
?

Well a whole lot of odd ball things, and thank goodness I have finally finished up everything, what a mess. Let's see ..

1. The Busted/snapped shock on the trail- well that ended up being two busted shocks once I picked up Drunner97 5100's which saved my a**. So when I went to install them I found when I removed the passenger side that it had snapped as well but not all the way threw..Lol. Then shortly after installing the new 5100's , or more like 2 days ago I installed these bad boys,, these are to eleaviate the chances of over extending anymore shocks and get back some ride

2. Rear LCA's - Both of my rear LCA's are bent. 2 of them has been for awhile now, but this time I smashed and bent up the frame box that's just before the rear passenger tire and bent the LCA ..well once again Drunner97 came threw for me and tossed in 1 of his oem LCA;s with the 5100's ..good lookin out brotha. I didn't realize having bent LCA's made that much of a difference but after installing the new straight one I can feel the difference instantly.
Now I just need to replace the driver side

3.Completely Shredded both of my front UCA bushing's 1 on each UCA , being the the bushing closest to the front of my rig and just half of the inner part of the bushing was left..

And much more to be continued

Well shit, If I had known both rear LCAs were bent I would have given you both.

Agreed with what's in bold. Can't tell if this is a mod day thread, a build thread or the July meet and run thread. :noidea: :focus:

Edit: Just think there should be a separate thread started for the Mod Day.

You should see how badly some of the threads on tw get derailed, hahah.

We're just having a little fun with the thread and other members but it could get out of control. I guess any future subjects should go in the socal bs thread. Drunners right though, I've read some thread that goes way left but hella funny!

I understand how threads get derailed, it happens on the car forum I'm on as well. Was just trying to add some humor to the thread but to also make a point to have a mod day thread which I think would be great. We do that on our car forum and we have a great time wrenching on our cars and hanging out.

I think it's more tolerated on TW because it's almost expected to happen in most threads, but I can understand how people get frustrated with it. T4R seems to be a bit tighter when it comes to derailment. I've got a dozen bs threads that I watch over there and it becomes a chore to weed through the randomness sometimes.

I guess I should have put a LOL in my post because I forget you guys don't know me that well to know that my first post was meant to make fun of whats happened to this thread. I love the banter in the SoCal threads, it keeps it lite and fun around here. Our car forum is the same, the SoCal group it real active and loves taking shots at each other like I see here, so let's keep it up.

Woot I'm so stoked! I just put a deposit down on a full length roof rack, I've been in touch with this guy since April when the racks were still in development. He finally finished the 4th gens and has began taking orders, he also has 3rd gens too.

I don't want to put the link up as Gobi will prolly put him out of business (**** Gobi's overpriced monopoly) anyways he has 3rd/ 4th gen full stealth racks for 1/2 the price here in socal so we can save on shipping to.

If anyone wants deets lmk!

There's a local guy around Tustin that builds 4th gen racks for 650. Pretty close to what a WMW rack looks like. Not sure if I want a stealth rack or full rack yet though.

That's him! But I'll get mine cheaper since I've been waiting from the beginning.

Nice! I see that dude all over CL. If he's making a stealth rack now too, I'm thinking that's who I'll be going to. Save that 100-150 on shipping from Prinsu. Can't wait to see it.
