Jumping Te1 and e1?

Got a question for you guys. I jumped the Te1 and e1 in the diagnosis box but instead of flashing codes the check engine light flashed continually with no breaks or pauses. What would cause that?

There's no codes stored, then. It's just flashing to let you know that you it's in diag mode.

It means you're good to G.O.

Was your CEL even on before you ran for codes?

Yes it's on and I'm having trouble with the runner, its hard to start and it idles rough and when I hit the gas the truck dies. Been stumped on it for about two weeks now

Keep starting the diagnostic mode over and over again until codes start showing.

Make sure the transmission is in neutral or park before jumping TE1 & E1.

Also make sure the engine is at normal operating temperature.. don't do it cold.

I did it 3 or 4 times and got the same results

I'm stumped, then. I've never had to warm my truck up to pull a code.

I gotta wonder if maybe your ECU isn't on the fritz then maybe? If the truck is still running weird after you've checked all the basics, and the CEL is on but it's not storing any codes...

92 3.0 v6. I was driving down the road switched down to second then lost most power. Had to keep it to the floor just to make it the 5 minutes back home. Now it idles horribly and like I said it'll die as soon as I hit the gas.*

My FSM says to have the engine warm and transmission in neutral before running for codes .. I was just passin' the info along.

Sounds like what happened to me one day. Bad knock sensor. Couldn't rev the engine over 1800 RPM, but was able to limp home.

Just a few wild guesses:

1. clogged converter
2. fuel filter
3. fuel pump
