junkyard freshen

I bought a junkyard 3.4 last week that is kind of high miles. 4 runner was wrecked and I was able to hear it start and run. I am already planning on doing a timing belt/water pump service along with gaskets and block plugs.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a list of common things I should check or replace before I put this thing in my 3rd gen 4 runner?

It would be greatly appreciated since I am pretty new to this scene!

Welcome, and good luck with your project. You'll get better replies if you post in the appropriate section (3rd gen instead of 4th gen), and you can learn a lot by looking through this thread.

At the very least, replace the rear main seal before you install any used engine.

Rear main seal, timing belt, cam seals, crank seal, water pump, and thermostat, while it is out.
