Just an FYI for future Volant CAI 4.7L owners....

First of all, the installation instructions suck! I had previously installed an AFE cai on my FJ and the one I just installed on my 4runner was far more difficult. The genious's at Volant did not properly space the holes in the airbox for mounting, so I had to drill a new hole about a half inch to the right of the one precut on the engine side of the box so it would fit. Next, the hole cut for the mass air flow sensor was WAY off, not to mention there were no screw holes drilled either to mount the sensor! THANK GOD I HAVE A DREMEL!!!!!! Last, what appeared to be the seal to the wheel well for the air box turned out to be the seal for the air tube to the air box. :bash: In the end everything worked out, however this install is not for the faint of heart. I was super pissed when I first started this install, 2 hours later, no big deal. I'm just posting this so that somebody who orders this intake thinking it would be a standard 30-45 min install doesnt go into cardiac arrest. If I didnt have a Dremel and experience installing several other intakes on different vehicles this would have been a major nightmare! :cannon: Did anybody else have these problems?

I had a problem as well...

I have a 2003 V8 and the correct (?) kit, I thought. The MAF sensor cut out is not drilled and shaped wrong. (rectanglar instead of round) So, I use the Dremel to make it work. I later discover the tube was probably for a 2005 V8. I also do not like the way the tube fits to the airbox. I also thought the seal was for the wheelwell. In any case the fit is crap. I'm going to work to improve it when I get time. The hose nipples also do not securely fit the vacuum hoses either. I used zip ties to fix this. And, since I've installed the intake, the transmission shifts weird. It improved when I installed the zip ties on the vacuum hoses but I'm wondering if my Dremel work on the MAF mounting may have something to do with this. I'll probably re-install the stock intake at some point to see if it makes a difference with the shifting. Rant over. Did I mention I love my Borla exhaust?

strange, I thought the opposite. Like every other intake ive ever done it took <20 mins. Strange to have so many florida boys in one thread, :bigok:
