After hemming & hawing I finally bought a new(er) vehicle for ME to drive. I've bought many cars/trucks for the Wife and kids, I'm still daily driving a 1968 F100 (not for sale).
So Tuesday I bought a lifted/leveled 2017 SR5 w/30k miles.
I live in rural AZ, mostly dirt roads with dry washes crossing them.
Now to see what trouble I can get into.

I think I have decent wheels and tires on this.
Mickey Thompson "Deegan 38" rims.
Toyo a/t Open Country LT285/70R17.
Looks like a 2" or 3" spacer on top of the front springs.
Can't see what's in back.
Front and rear fender wells are 38" from the ground.

Ha, I hear you.

I haven’t been able to post pics here for some reason for the past few months and the main reason I got it was the ease of posting pics.

Now I can again but am limited.

I like Tapatalk, but it glitches out a lot.

My Grandfather bought the 68 new in 1969. I remember the day he brought it home.
He put an older camper on it and it was his his hunting/camping rig. Mostly it sat on the street in front of their house.
It was given to me in 1986, so I'm the second owner. It had 68,000 miles on it. It's been my daily driver since then, I've added 200,000 miles to it. I rebuilt the 240 straight six 2 years ago.
Mostly still all original. Only things I've changed are:
-Wheels (saved the original hubcaps)
-Bigger radiator
-Electric fan
-Aluminum grill (someone backed into the original white one).
-Added a grill guard (didn't help, see above lol).
-Air bags supplement on rear suspension
-Camper finally dry rotted so it is gone, replaced with a period correct (old) aluminum shell.
Until the 4runner, all my vehicles are old. 68 pickup, 78 & 80 motorcycles, 88 quad. Now a 17 T4R.
Getting soft in my old age.

Welcome! My daily in high school and some time after was a 69 Chevy Nova, then got a 1980 Chevy 4x4 1/2 ton Custom Deluxe. Drove it for several years. I've had a couple newer vehicles since then, but now I'm in a 2019 TRD off road, as of last week. Had 2 miles on the odo when I test drove it.

I wish I still had my high school ride! 1956 F100.
Irony is, we just moved to NW AZ. A few miles away is a business called "Mid Fifties Fords". There are many trucks in their boneyard from that era. I could build my first ride. Or...
The owner offered to sell me one of the 56 F100 panel trucks. I always lusted for one of those. I just really don't want any more major projects. Ten or more years ago I'd have been all over that.

After one week I was this truck, I'm liking it more & more.
In a couple of weeks we're taking it on a road trip. Four adults, 500 miles one way.

Last week took it on a "trail" (I'm still learning this area). It was little more than a dirt road. Nothing challenging but it was a good chance to use 4H, 4L, Atrac & DHC without the stress of actually needing to use those functions.
Today was a bit more challenging (for me, the offroading novice). It's been raining a bit here, the dirt road we live on has some washes that demand attention. Went out and was following what I thought was a road that got more "rustic" the farther we went (daughter was with me).
Then explored some "streets" in our "neighborhood" that were severely washed out, but no flowing water.
I live in Golden Valley, AZ. An unincorporated town of 7,500 people covering 79 square miles. 99.9% dirt roads. Calling them roads is an overstatement. Some are not even trails.
It was so fun and I scratched up the pristine Midnight Black Metallic paint (Arizona pinstripe). It's going to get scratched. Better me having fun that some idiot in a Walmart parking lot.

Took it on a road trip with the family, 4 adults + luggage for the weekend.
Fuel mileage was up to 18.9mpg until the headwind.
Avg on freeway for 500 miles was 17.8mpg.
Stock with lift and 285/70r17 tires.
The ride was very comfortable for everyone, though my floorspace was a bit cramped after a while. Granted, I'm used to an 18-wheeler.

I'm new to 4runners but it seems the level/lift is a pretty popular mod. Looks like you got a great deal with that and the wheels/tires.

Do you know what lift kit you have? And is there any sort of rubbing with those 285’s? I recently got a stock 19 SR5. I’m putting the black TRD Sema wheels on it next week and will probably do a lift and bigger tires when it comes time to replace them.
