Just bought 03 sport on Ebay! UPDATE

I just purchased a 2003 Sport V8 4X4 on Ebay. The link is below. I saw this 4R on Ebay several weeks ago for 23500. I just did my nightly search for 4runners and there it was, listed as buy it now for 15,488!!!!!!! I clicked buy it now.

My question is does this dealer have to honor this price???? I think one of the salesman listed the wrong price on the auction. I do have 47 transactions on Ebay so I am not a newb to Ebay, however I have yet to come across a situation like this.

What do you guys think??? Should I be excited, or can the dealer back out of this sale.

Well Metro Lexus tried to back out of the deal. They said they would not sell me the truck because they would lose 4K. I had to get my lawyer involved and long story short, I will picking up my new 4r tomorrow.

The dealer would, most of them, honor the price.
It is definitly a good price for the year & milage, IMHO.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT:

It might be worthwile to have the vehical inspected by your trusted mechanic.

Yes they do, it is a legal binding contract, it works both ways, it means they cant back out and neither can you. (unless you both mutually agree not to continue)

I know the Metro dealers, they are good people with a good reputation, when a dealer gets pinched to get rid of a car (IE sitting on the lot for more then 90 days) they get desparate to sell. I got my 03 Limited w/61K miles for $16.5K so the price looks appropriate.

Ya, they are suppose to honor it per Ebay's terms and Agreement. Looks like a nice rig but I would replace the carpeting...Damn good price!
 
Reading the fine print of their terms and conditions, it says that they don't use a reserve price and therefore they can accept a "very agressive Buy-it-now price". So it's no mistake.
 
Carpet looks fine for an 03. Like you said there is discoloration on the rear hump and little more in the rear where the floor mats don't cover. It is to be expected somewhat. I guess someone really liked to keep their feet on the hump and not on the floor mats.

The ebay agreement is a binding contract, but like most things these days is more trouble to enforce than it is worth. I would recommend calling the dealer asap, have them put a sold sticker on it, so no one else buys it or takes YOUR new truck out for a spin.

Don't sweat the dirt on the carpet, with all the money you saved, you can get front and rear Weathertech mats which will cover all, including the center hump!

The carpet replacement was just MY opinion...

The price of the carpet assy and the labor will be more then its worth for that little spot. I agree with the weather tech suggestion or try to clean it off by shampooing it.
 
Just spoke with Paul Watts from Metro Lexus. The price was listed incorrectly. However , he is going honor the price. He said it was supposed to be listed as buy now for 19,100. Sounds like I am getting a great deal.

I always wanted ask this, but is the sport edition come with different gauge clusters?

mine doesnt look anything like this:

the needles look fatter on mine with a black outline and doesnt have that silver outline in the middle of the face.
 
They just put brand new dunlops on when they took it in. I want the 265/70/17 revos. Should I ask them to put on the revos or will I be ok with the dunlops?

Also, extended warranty, should I consider one?

exttended warranty is good to have, but only makes sense if the price isnt too expensive and depends on how long will the warranty duration will be. The tires are new, leave them as is till they wear out, no sense in wasting money.

IIRC, Sport Edition and SR5 have the same instrument cluster. The Limited has a different and unique cluster, which also has a red dot that is projected around the gauge edge for the tach and speedometer.
