just bought 4runner..only getting audio out of front 3 speakers..help!!

I have a 2004 SR5 4runner i just bought. When i turn on the stereo, i'm only getting sound out of the front speakers (doors and center dash speaker). i've messed w/the balance and fade and cant get any audio out of the rear speakers. it does this w/the radio and cd. anyone have any tips on this? also, what do these 4runners typically have as far as speakers in the rear (built in amp? subwoofer?) thanks a lot.

Which radio do you have? Does it have an option for POS when you tune the radio?

Sounds like maybe the wiring may have a defect. If you've followed the instructions in the owner's manual, then it may be a trip for warranty service.

If you have the JBL system, you might have the Surround sound switched on.
