Just bought a 2013 Limited. Need help with something.

So I just bought a 2013 limited. Got a killer deal on it but it needed a little minor work. (Buffed out the paint, power side steps need some love ect). One thing I can’t for the life of me figure out is I have this annoying creaking popping noise from the steering column when turning sometimes or a bump ect. It will also happencar off if I just push down on the wheel and let back up ect. I have greesed a few joints under the dash and tightened bolts under the dash... still making this annoying noise and I can’t figure it out! Any one have a similar problem or any ideas for me to try? It’s driving me crazy.

Thanks for the reply. It’s definitly not coming from the suspension I’ve narrowed that down. It appears to be coming from the steering colum. Like even when you pull down on the steering wheel with the car off it creaks. I’ve tightened everything I could find under there and am at a loss.

The only other thing that comes to my mind is that it might be your intermediate steering sub-shaft. This was a common problem on the 4th Gen 4Runners (I ran into this problem on my 03 Limited).

The joint of the sub-shaft is very exposed and susceptible to corrosion and thus deterioration.

Yeah I tried tightening and greasing that too. Maybe I gotta take it to the dealer. Sure is frustrating lol.

Well it appears to be coming from the upper part of the steering shaft under the dash. Anyone else ever have this issue?
