Wow, you have gone a long time without a newer car. Your 4Runner looks really sharp. That black sure looks great.Zinarac said:I have owned a 1993 4Runner 5 speed 3.0L V6 for a few years now. I sold it today and bought a 2004 Black 4Runner SR5 V6. I am very excited to start contributing to the 4th gen community. I have only had it for a few hours and I love it.

I just bought a 2004 10 days ago. I am still on my first tank of gas. The computer is saying 21.0 MPG. Which I think is a bit off.
Good luck with your 4Runner. :bigok:
Sad to say, I am using cheap Kroger gas. The owner was with me and I filled it up right before we went into the bank.riverider said:Are you using 100% gas or 10% ethanol?

I don't see too much ethanol here in GA. I saw a lot of it when I went out west though. I guess regular gas is better. Still, I have been using it for city driving. I usually get about 18 when I drove the 2001 going to work, I would be very happy if I get the same in the 2004.
My guess is Zinarac will get better mieage in the 2004 than his 1993, as the 2nd generation was tough on gas.
riverider said:I am getting around 17/18 mpg with both City and Highway. Only have around 300 miles on the sweet SR5, but am trying to do more driving. My bought new 1982 Bronco only has 46,450 today. So I am not a big mileage runner upper.
And I won't be driving my SR5 in any snow or ice. No not going to happen.![]()
Zinarac said:Wow! Very low miles for a 1982 Bronco. How long have you had your 4Runner?

I just filled up my new "used" 4Runner. 18.6 MPG. The computer said 20.9 when I filled up. This was mostly city driving, the avg. speed was 20 MPH. This compares well to my 3rd gen. 2WD. I was a little dissapointed since the computer was 2.3 MPG off.Zinarac said:You are correct. I was getting 15 mpg city in the 1993, but with the 2004 I have been getting about 17-18 mpg city.
So far I am loving the 4th gen. It rides very smooth and did very well in the snow last weekend with regular tires.

So, I guess we are pretty close in mileage.
