Just bought a 4th gen!

I have owned a 1993 4Runner 5 speed 3.0L V6 for a few years now. I sold it today and bought a 2004 Black 4Runner SR5 V6. I am very excited to start contributing to the 4th gen community. I have only had it for a few hours and I love it.

Wow, you have gone a long time without a newer car. Your 4Runner looks really sharp. That black sure looks great.

I just bought a 2004 10 days ago. I am still on my first tank of gas. The computer is saying 21.0 MPG. Which I think is a bit off.

Are you using 100% gas or 10% ethanol?

Sad to say, I am using cheap Kroger gas. The owner was with me and I filled it up right before we went into the bank.

I don't see too much ethanol here in GA. I saw a lot of it when I went out west though. I guess regular gas is better. Still, I have been using it for city driving. I usually get about 18 when I drove the 2001 going to work, I would be very happy if I get the same in the 2004.

My guess is Zinarac will get better mieage in the 2004 than his 1993, as the 2nd generation was tough on gas.

You are correct. I was getting 15 mpg city in the 1993, but with the 2004 I have been getting about 17-18 mpg city.

So far I am loving the 4th gen. It rides very smooth and did very well in the snow last weekend with regular tires.

I am getting around 17/18 mpg with both City and Highway. Only have around 300 miles on the sweet SR5, but am trying to do more driving. My bought new 1982 Bronco only has 46,450 today. So I am not a big mileage runner upper.

And I won't be driving my SR5 in any snow or ice. No not going to happen.

Nice. I got mine on 10/28/08. I have put over 1000 miles on it already though. I guess I drive a lot. I'm just glad the price of gas is down right now. Over the peak of the summer I paid $4.69/gallon. It is currently about $2.24/gallon. Not bad at all.

Did you reset your computer when you bought it? I would be interested to see how the computer calculates the MPG because mine is always off a little bit too.
