Just bought a 5th gen 4runner. New to this forum

Hello everyone. I just purchased a used '11 4R sr5 4x4 this weekend. I had been looking for a low mileage 4x4 with 3rd row seats, Bluetooth, etc for a while and didn't want to buy a limited or a black 4R. Finally found one here in Houston for a great price so I nabbed it. It was bone stock, one owner and super clean.
I'm not new to Toyota's or modifying them. I just sold my 01 Tacoma trd which I converted from a prerunner to 4x4 by gathering all the oem parts from 4x4 tacos. I put a 3"lift, 33's and shrockworks front bumper on it. Now I have a '10 Tundra double cab 5.7L and the 4runner.
Little about me: I'm an Infiniti master technician and work on cars for a living in Houston. I'm married and have a 1 year old son. My hobbies are motocross, mountain biking, and modding my vehicles.
I have already installed a curt roof rack, and tried on some wheels from a friend's tundra. Wheels, tires and lift are next on mod list, along with satoshi grill mod with "TOYOTA" emblem. Then I'll be researching swapping an elocker from a Tacoma into my 4Runner rear diff.

New to the site, my 2015 Limited!!

Hello All, just bought this about 3 weeks ago. After doing a ton of research and comparing (but not driving) just about everything in this category, decided on the 4Runner for the best value and Toyota quality. Not sure if this is the correct thread for this but I had a few issues with the aftermarket products they were offering, specifically aftermarket undercoating. After originally purchasing that, the fabric protection, and paint protection, I did some checking about aftermarket items of this sort and quickly cancelling it all. They tried to tell me that the factory undercoating was not thorough and the undercoating at the dealership would be much better. I decided to contact Toyota with this question and this is their response:

We appreciate the opportunity you have provided us to address your concerns and would be glad to answer your question regarding frame undercoating.

First and foremost, congratulations on the purchase of the 2015 4Runner! Your 2015 4Runner is equipped with a frame that is both galvanized and precision heat-treated to ensure that it provides the most optimal level of rust prevention. There is an additional undercoating that is applied to critical areas that are mainly near the rear wheel wells of the vehicle to ensure further protection. In short, your vehicle frame does not have undercoating on every part, solely on critical areas Toyota deems necessary.

With this in mind, Toyota does not require any kind of additional undercoating to be applied to the vehicle's frame so long as the vehicle is maintained well. What may inevitably cause rust on any sort of metal is a constant exposure to factors such as dirt, snow, and salt-treated roads that slowly corrode metals.

While your vehicle is already treated with rust-prevention in mind, Toyota as a manufacturer suggests that you maintain the vehicle's frame with care, especially when driving the vehicle through harsh conditions.
