Just bought a '99 SR5 - take a look!

Made the verbal agreement today, picking it up tomorrow morning. Real excited (and nervous) cause its the first car I've purchased entirely on my own. Brought a legit mechanic with me though so I know what's good and what needs to be taken care of.

Details (just copied from CL):
Silver 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with 190k miles. 3.4 Liter V6 with Automatic Transmission and 4WD. No accidents, non-smoker, seats and interior are well kept and in great condition. Runs great without ever giving me any problems. Regularly scheduled maintenance. Power antenna does not work, but all other electrical components run perfect (A/C, Sunroof, AM/FM Radio, CD player, tinted windows). Brakes inspected two weeks ago and rotors resurfaced. The front brakes have 70% and the rear brakes have 90%. Minor exterior scratch on the rear passenger door. Clean Title

Was priced at $4750 but talked him down to $4250. My mechanic said I need to get the timing belt and front shocks done, which = about $800 worth of work, including the antenna fix. I'm gonna jump right on the timing belt and get the shocks done in the next couple months. Other than that, mechanic said its in great condition mechanically and got it for a good price. Exterior has a few scratches and scrapes here and there but nothing that isn't easily taken care of.

Full disclaimer: don't know that much about engines but plan on learning with this guy. I live in SoCal and am going to be using this as a surfing/camping/general outdoors vehicle. Was looking for an '02 sport edition with <150k miles but was having a hard time finding one with the specs I wanted. Shocking amount of 2x4's here in the southern california area, and definitely wanted a 4x4.

Nice find man! If it has 190k miles and runs good it has to have been taken care of. You did good on the price too.

Agreed with above comment. If you have to replace front shocks, maybe consider just getting a lift kit? Not sure what your budget is like or if you even want to lift it, but I just bought a set of 4 lift coils and shocks for $520.

Thanks, guys. Buying it from its 2nd owner. It came from the bay area and spent its entire life in California, most of it down here in Socal, so I know it hasnt been exposed to that much harsh weather, if any at all. The current ownder texted me after saying he was happy I brought a mechanic cause he knows it will be passing into good hands.

Gonna get the timing belt done, and then will take a bit more time on the rest. Lift kit is definitely under consideration, although if I get one I won't need anything crazy as I don't plan on doing intense off-roading with it
