Just bought another 1st gen...Part or sell??

A few weeks ago friend of mine said he wanted to get rid of his yota so here we are. This is now the 3rd classic Toyota I own at the moment :reddance:

1985 4Runner DLX 22RE 164,XXX miles. It's basically stock other than a 4" or so lift and 31s. He put new Rancho shocks on it last year, and he did timing set, head gasket, and windshield about 2 years ago after we rolled it up Millville. The title is still clean.

The only real bad about it is the body is crumpled from the roll over and reverse in the W56 is completely gone. The crumpled roof is the worst part because the other panels are easily replaceable. Both doors still close fine though. The front axle is leaky by both wheels. I assume the seals are pretty easy to replace. An engine mount also needs replaced, but he already bought a new one I just need to put it in.

So I need to decide what to do with it. Right now it's pretty much a prime base for a sweet build. I could sell it now as is; which would be nice to not have to deal with anything, but I wouldn't make as much money.

I could fix it up a bit (replace panels, cheap paint jop, replace tranny, etc.) then list it as a nice 85 with low low miles. 85s are getting pretty rare so I could ask a pretty penny for it if I did that.

Or I could just part it out. Everything on it is worth quite a bit and I could just let people come pull stuff of as they please. I really have no idea how much I could make from parting it out though. Do any of you?

I was looking for something similar in my neck of the woods. I would start taking it apart piece by piece, clean, catalog, and save. You could then paint accessory pieces ( front bumper, trim, or valance ect.)and use on your other trucks as needed.

Parting out is a pain because when your done you got a lump of chassis and other crap only worth the metal weight.

Please save it. Re-body it or sell it off complete to someone who will. There's too few of them left that are not rusted out or beat to hell.

Save it! Even a rough 1st gen is becoming a rarity these days. Great deal BTW.
