Just brought home a 2019 TRD Offroad Premium and...

would like some opinions on the following:

1. Wear out the B-Stone tires or upgrade to BFG's right away?

2. If I upgrade right away, can I expect to get any coin for the B-Stones? Even beer money?

3. When, be it now or later, I upgrade to BFG's... knowing I want to keep the suspension dead stock, should I get the tires in the stock size or bump up ~ and in either case will I have any rubbing issues? Also, which rating : C or E?

4. Any suggestions on the fake hood vent and reducing sun glare off of it... my rig is in Nautical Blue and I have no problems with either color-matching or going black, is there anything out there besides Plasti-Dip?

1. You can get around okay on stock tires, but a nice set is really what makes the difference off road.

2. Sometimes the installer will pay decent money for new, gently used tires. Probably more than that you'll get reselling here or on Craigslist.

3. I assume you are referring to BFG KO2s. They're a great tire and I'll share my experience. I knew I wanted a mild bump to 275/70. Imagine my surprise when I found the exact model CPO truck that I wanted, at a great price, with 5 of these installed and brand new. They fit on the stock wheels with no rubbing whatsoever. Toyota actually sold me the truck this way, certified pre-owned. Also, my speedometer is dead on now (clocked with GPS). The factory size reads faster than actual speed (so you're going roughly 63 when your speedo reads 65). Note that the KO2 only comes in E load for this size. It is heavier, you will notice the rougher ride and the weight. I love them because they will take a beating in sharp rocks.

4. Swap the scooped hood for a flat one. You'll find someone willing to pay you cash for the trade. No more glare and money in your pocket instead of out. I did it and couldn't be happier.

You can always do what the taco guys do and put some flat black vinyl on the scoop. The trd pro Tacoma has it stock from the factory.

Congrats on the new ride. I sold my stock tires with little to no miles pretty quick. I had previously bought another guys for the girlfriend’s SR5. Bad timing but that’s what happened. In both cases, about $300 was a fair price for both, so I’d say list them on CL or FB Market, plenty of beer money available.

As for the scoop glare, I’ve got the Natty Blue and haven’t had any troubles. Either I’m lucky or or the seat height makes a difference. If you don’t like the black vinyl idea, try some clear vinyl. I would think that could help with the glare as well.
