Just Debaged

After seeing all the pics on here, I decided to go ahead and debadge my black 05 today. Results are amazing.

It was actually very easy....i didnt even need a hair dryer. Just some 10lb test fishing line, some goof-oof, and auto polish. If you like the look, but are afraid of taking off the badges like I was, go ahead and do it....its not hard at all

just exactly what i did two weeks ago, bored and want to try something new on my 06 SE 4Wd. the result? i liked it debadged better. i'll post pics soon.

and i painted the white letters off the tires black, no more white outlined lettersblends well along the debadged look.

What did you use to paint the letters on your tires? And couldnt you just flip them around on the wheels? I think the other side should just be a blackwall.

Here are two picks of my debadged 4Runner. I did it two days after I bought it. Looks much cleaner. I even took the "V8" badge out of the grill.

Debadging is the way to go.

What did you use to paint the letters on your tires? And couldnt you just flip them around on the wheels? I think the other side should just be a blackwall.

my mistake i used the word painted, but thats how it looked after. i dont remember who suggested this but it worked and i used this

hehe.. sharpie costs maybe $3. remounting tires cost about $40.. hmm..

Oh, I agree. He through me off with the "painted" thing. I wasnt sure if there was a product out there that he bought to do it. Sharpie sounds good to me, and if it wears off its easy to reaply!

I debagded mine several months ago. I'm thinking about putting the Toyota Hybrid Synergy decal (like the ones at the back of the Prius) on my Runner to
1.Make people curious and
2. Increase my gas mileage to 60 mpg.

Looks very smooth with them off, i think about doing this sometime.. awesome.

grease ya can decorate your fridge now with those spare letters haha. If you have a young one, who knows maybe they'll spell "4Runner" as their first ever word.. haha

As for disadvantages....i cant think of any at all. After you take the letters off, just use a little adhesive remover, and then buff with a car polish. it turns out PERFECT, with no residue. You cant even tell where the letters used to be

When I had my Revos intalled at Firestone, the manager had a special white wall "black-out" paint. He sprayed on the white walls and it looked like it was never there. After this, he mounted the tires with the white wall side in. He said it's a special paint that will bond with ther whitewall/tire material.

Maybe you can find this somewhere?
