Just discovered another problem on my yota..

Okay well, thanks for your help guys, maybe you are right, well, ill search for a good honest mechanic then, but i appreciate all the information given by you helping me to understand and learn from my truck. Thank you!, i will read those articles you posted

Fernando, the CV shafts are your front axle shafts--they go from the differential (the large central portion of the front axle housing) to the hub assembly holding the front wheels. These are what transfers the power to your wheels, and since they must move up and down and also turn with the steering while doing their job, they have "Constant Velocity" joints at each end (the large portions inside the rubber accordian boots) that can move in all directions while the shaft spins. Since you have an automatic, you most likely have the ADD system--this replaces the need for locking hubs (the rotating dial on the end of most front axles), so you don't need to "lock in" to use 4WD. I must admit, I concur with the other members with their advice to continue your search for a mechanic you can trust, or better yet find a fellow offroader that wrenches on his/her rig and have them over to work with you on some projects. With your extremely limited knowledge (as of this time, anyway), I would discourage you from tearing into anything too difficult--the manuals are usually written for those who have some experience and know what certain parts are called and can fill in the blanks on their own. Don't sweat it--we've all been at the same point as you at one point in time, and had to learn the trade from someone. Best of luck to ya'!

Lol just right now i was reading an article describing the operation of the different types of hubs, and how the front differential works in conjunction with the 4WD system, and yes i checked that my 4R has an ADD, the hubs arent manual from what i can see, and well im not planning to tear down the front diff or doing any repairs without any advice by myself, thats why i look up for help from experienced people in order to identify or troubleshoot problems with my 4WD system, ill be off town next week so il get a chance to test the system, these things are very similar to those RC 4x4 nitro trucks.. i have one and its operation is very similar... And well as i said, im not planning to tear down anything but im very happy to learn and repair what i can just by watching and talking with you guys hehehe, so when i go with a mechanic im not going to be so lost :P, i hope going to a gravel lot or sand pit confirms the correct operation of the 4WD.

Nitro toys, broken parts, may buy whole new toy for a couple hundred... Full size 'Yota, broken parts can hit the thousands fast... Find A Mechanic or as stated, a nearbuy wrencher.
