Did most of the debadging on my 97 today. The overall paint condition of the truck isn't great... I don't have delamination, but the oxidized layer all over the Natural White truck is a dirt/road grime magnet. I discovered a good technique of applying some Goof Off over the badge and letting it soak for 5 mins before I ran the fishing line under it. It made several of the badges almost fall off the truck. They've been on there for 16 years, the gold badging was faded, flaking, and ugly. Not sure which ones I'm going to put back on, but leaning toward only a couple on the back after a plastidip.
I was able to get off 100% of the old skanky badge foam with Goof Off, my fingernail and a paper towel... now those areas look awesome, but the rest of the oxidized paint looks even worse! I thought it was comical.
My question is: Did anyone else have trouble getting the T emblem off the center of the rear hatch? I soaked the heck out of that thing with Goof Off and I can't get an edge started to pull it off. The rear window wiper isn't helping, but I can get around it... I just can't get the badge started. Anyone have some experience with that? Thanks.
