Just finished installing new sliders

My buddy helped me out tonight. Over the course of about 2.5-3 hours we got my freshly delivered Shrockworks sliders with tread plate installed on my 18 SR5. A couple notes:

1. You will need to drill in one location on front passenger side to secure the bottom bolt.
2. You will want a bottle jack or floor jack and a piece of lumber to support the fuel tank.
3. We also used a jack to support the sliders as we were bolting them to the frame.
4. Stick nuts are tricky, but doable.

I am not mechanically inclined, and I was able to do this. If I can do, you can do!

Yeah, what does the fuel tank have to do with this install? Shouldn't even be a concern with this.

Agreed with others, why you need to support the fuel tank? I didn't need to when I installed my sliders by myself.

Maybe that will clear up the reason why you had to "support the fuel tank".......

I have the Shrockworks sliders and installed them 3 years ago with a friend. I can't remember exactly since it's been a while but I believe the OP is correct. You remove the bolts on the driver side frame that supports the fuel tank skid and also the fuel tank strap bolt. You re-use the bolt locations on one of the legs of the slider. This might be a Shrockworks sliders install thing only so if you don't have a set of Shrockworks sliders then this likely would not have applied to you. Just backing up the OP here since he's correct.

I have been looking at sliders but did not realize they attach using fuel tank bolts for support. That is why I asked the OP for a photo so I could see this.

Anyone know if other brands of sliders install like Shrockworks ?

Same here, I am shopping for Sliders and a front bumper, Sliders 1st. I am looking for bolt on. I had P&P engineering on my Xterra and they just bolted to where the stepsides were. on my other Xterra I had Shrockworks and they just bolted right up. If I cam off as a dick i'm sorry I just ever heard of the fuel tank being involved with bolt on skids. I guess I need to ask all the vendors now.

With a quick Google search I answered my own question about having to remove fuel tank support to install sliders. Probably no surprise to those who have done their own install, but I found some manufactures do and some don't require this procedure. I found this short video showing install of RSG sliders to be in line with what I imagined a slider install would involve.
