Holy goodness...thanks to you I just found this out too (literally ran outside and tried it haha). That wasn't in the sticker specs!!! I owe you a beer.

Push button start? No work around (that I know of), it's a security feature. My wife's 19 Taco with push button start does the same thing, must be restarted after entering the vehicle. Trucks with keys can actually work like normal (key in, turn to run position, tap the break, shift into gear, and go).

What's a Pro Premium? Do you mean Off-Road Premium? If so, you do not have remote start... at least the factory version. Only the Pro, Limited, and Nightshade models, basically those with JBL system, have it.

I have it on my Venture, but I requested it to be added by the dealer before taking delivery. It works the same as the Limited/Pro.
And yeah, the automatic shut off is normal(w/ push button start), unfortunately.
That was a definite deal breaker for me when I learned about that 'safety feature' during my order process. I decided to add a Viper Remote start, just the lowest cost one, range is excellent and best feature I think is ability to engage the remote start button while the vehicle is running, remove the key or fob and lock up / leave it running while you run into the variety store in the middle of winter for example. Don't use it often but nice to have, presumably other aftermarket manufacturers have a similar option to their units. Of course any door opening, foot on the brake etc. kills the engine unless the vehicle is unlocked with the OEM fob and / or key goes back into the ignition turned to run position.

I have it on my 14 TEP, which has the key & fob setup. With the motor running via remote start, when you hit the button to unlock the doors the motor turns off automatically. I asked the dealer about using the key in the door lock to bypass the turn off and was told it would still shut off, but I never tried it. TBH, I never use the feature because of this.

All my friends with push button start can enter the vehicle and it stays running.

We have a 2014 Nissan Altima and a 2019 Nissan Murano, and remote start on both of them works as follows: After remote starting the vehicle you unlock and enter the vehicle (the vehicle remains runing). To drive off you have to put your foot on the brake pedal and push the start button on the dash. The instrument cluster lights up and you can drive. Compared to the 4runner, it is smoother (engine doesn't turn off), but the exact same movements. I personally think that it is not a big deal, especially since 5 minutes ago I didn't know that I could use the key fob.

My wife's Taco won't. Unlock the doors and it shuts off. So tell us how they got around the "safety feature" because I may be interested in doing it to her Taco. I've got a keyed 4R, so no worries, I'll add a Accessorides kit and not worry about it.
As the previous post indicated with the Nissan, many manufacturers build remote start units with that sequence but Toyota doesn't play that way from what I understand (keyed ignition or not). My installer (friend) gets asked this in his business all the time but its always the same answer with the OEM Toyota sequence, any door opens and off goes the engine.
So that's why I went with the Viper product. Have to carry another very small remote but its no big deal to me. Viper uses the same security sequence though, any door opens, hood, remote window command down etc. and off goes the engine, you must use one of the fobs to unlock the vehicle and then put it into run mode with the ignition (cannot touch brakes either of course).
I'm not aware of this Accessorides kit you refer to though. Whats that?
