Just Got My First Dent, and I'm Not Too Happy...

This is part of the reason I prefer no sunroof. Zero chance of overhead glass shrapnel. Everyone is safe. Nothing else matters.

My work vehicle has various dents and scratches from falling limbs. It happens.

I guess I'll side with the OP. I had a VERY slight scratch on the rear of my bumper that you couldn't see unless you were eye level or lower and I spent $800 to have it taken off, prepped and repainted by the professionals. I'm anal about all of my vehicles. I'd have a PDR company take that ding out.

Thanks guys! I guess pissed off is a bit strong of a term, so maybe I was slightly disappointed? With only 300 miles on it, I was planning on going for quite awhile without the "new" wearing off of it. I'm pretty darn good at keeping my vehicles out of harms way in the parking lot (my last vehicle only had one tiny ding after 5 years of ownership). Like those of you that managed to hit a deer, this was out of my control. If anything, I just wanted this thread to be a lesson about the dangers of Acorns, haha.

I think I'll give PDR a shot. There's actually a guy near me with a very good reputation, and my wife's got a few dings on her driver door so maybe he'll do a package deal or something.

Its the name of the game. These vehicles are for utility not to sit looking like garage queens. My truck is a 2017 with 11000kms and is scratched by natures pinstiping down both sides greatly. Enjoy the good things about the vehicle. Unlike a fancy sports car it still looks great when its scratched and dinged up. Battle scars.

I have two teen drivers in my family, and I just know this day is coming. My son has two accidents under his belt, and my daughter has three, although none have occurred in my 4runner.

(On the plus side, I'm getting pretty good at doing my own body work...)

Can't even do touch up cause (dorado gold) paint is fairly faded so now I want to paint whole 4r talk about anal !!! My baby 11 we took to survey property in Ut. tight trail & heard that screech & went ok now I'm done watching it in parking lots . Nice while it lasted tho . Good info here. I had someone back into my 2017 a few weeks after I had it. And then by the time I got it in and out of the shop, I had a door ding that I didn't notice before the big dent got fixed. If you use one of those kits to fix the ding, how do you clean up/match the paint?

I'll start by saying that it could've been much worse, since it's in a place that will rarely ever be seen. That being said, my 4Runner has less than 300 miles and is essentially brand new, so I'm kind of pissed.

I was just driving down the road past a cemetery at about 40 mph, minding my own business. Then, I heard a loud thud on my roof and my two year old son said "what was that Dad?" Since I was driving under some huge oak trees, I knew exactly what it was. When I finally got to my stop, I got out and looked at my roof... sure enough, that damn acorn put a ding in my roof!

Searching around, it doesn't look all too uncommon for acorns to damage cars. Any of you guys ever have something like this happen?

House where I grew Up has huge Oak Tree next to driveway/parking area. Learned many a painful lesson when a large Acorn year how they can damage a car. Very similar to hail damage. Feel your pain. You might be able to have the dent removed similar process as the remove hail damage.

Sure enough, I now have a baseball-shaped dent on my roof. Not a big deal because you can't see it from the ground, but every time I put something up on the rack it reminds me to listen to my wife.

i have on-street parking in a city called the "city of oaks", i just always keep a $0 or $50 other-than-collision deductible. i've had plenty of acorn dents on various cars but none that don't come out on their own (give it a summer-winter cycle if you can wait that long)

bird shit on the other hand is a big problem for me, i try my best to remove it right away but i've already got a few spots where bird shit ate clean through my clear coat. you can tell where i live because of all of the anti-bird reflective tape i have streaming from trees
