Just got some scrap metal, any ideas on what to do with it?

My buddies dad has a bunch of heavy duty diamond metal grating he gifted me yesterday. any body have any ideas on what I could use it for?

Expanded mesh with holes, not diamond plate. I don't know the grade specifically but it's not very malleable....not malleable enough to do oh say...a satoshi haha

you can do what i do and cut your fingers all up with it, damn that stuff is sharp! unless you have some projects in mind theres not much you can do with it by itself outside of repairing a BBQ grill. it makes a great door mat too, traps dirt and stuff pretty dang good.

Depending upon the size of the expanded metal pieces, you could make a security cage. I had a buddy weld up some 2' x 8' and 4' x 8' modular pieces welded to angle iron and closed off a corner of my basement by bolting the pieces together. This is an additional barrier to get to my gun safe.

Good idea. I've heard of this material attached to wall studs and then dry walled over to create a safe room as well. Combine it with rebar run through the studs and it would certainly slow someone down.

LOL! I'm a little paranoid when it comes to my firearm stuff. I actually built a small room where I screwed 3/4" plywood to the studs and then covered it with drywall. I also put a solid core door with metal frame. Now that my kids are having friends spending the night, I like to keep that stuff out of sight (and secure). As the added barrier, I assembled the cage walls inside this room.
If someone is determined enough to get into my house, through the heavy-duty wall, cut the cage, AND break into my safe-all while being shot at by me....then they can have the damn guns-'cuz they earned 'em :hunter:
