Just had my antenna ripped off and door scratched

I went to our new Giant Eagle car wash today and had this horrible experience. Antenna ripped off, door scratched and my mirror was also ripped back violently

I would ask them to pay for the repairs. If they will not I would take them to small claims court. In most states small claims court can settle issues concerning less than around $7000. The fee to file is usually relatively small and there is no attorneys allowed! It's like Judge Judy.

Here is some info, appearantly in Ohio the limit is $3000, and attorneys are allowed to represent corporations. Much different than Washington State. Ohio Small Claims Court Information

I usually do it myself also but it was still a bit chilly outside, so I opted for the quick solution. Plus we just moved into this house and I don't have a hose..lol

Did you talk with the Car Wash Manager after this happened? Before you left the car wash? If so I would write down what was said.

I would also take pictures too as soon as you can, along wtih getting a quote for repair. You will need all this if you have to go to small claims.

Tell them it shattered your transfer case and front diff too .

But this is good, now you get a new antenna assembly so now you dont have to worry about it breaking on its own.

Most automatic car washes I've seen have signs stating that you assume responsibility for any damage that may occur to your vehicle.

That sign is bullsh!t in my opinion, they just hope people will believe that sign and not take them to court. They are responsible for damages IMO

I agree, it doesn't hurt to ask them to pay for it. And if not, it doesn't hurt to ask a judge to tell them to pay for it, lol.

But maybe your insurance will cover it.

Most automatic car washes I've seen have signs stating that you assume responsibility for any damage that may occur to your vehicle.

That only applies and the sign would say that if you have aftermarket body kits, tow hitches, front grilles, oversized carriers, wide tires or anything more than stock; THEN it's not the car wash's responsibility for damages to your vehicle.
