Just Installed Aftermarket 8" sub need some advice on feeling gaps??

I recently replaced the stock JBL 8" sub with an MTX 8" sub. I had to drill new holes because they didn't line up with the holes from the JBL sub. I want to fill the holes with something but I am not to sure what will work. I was thinking maybe silicone but I don't know if that is strong enough. Is ther any other type of sealent that will work. I attached some pictures of what I am talking about. Thanks

the hell with the holes, how does it sound???

It sounds great, I have it hooked up to an MTX T2002 amp. I used to have an alpine 10" sub and the 10" was definetly louder but the 8" has a cleaner sound. I put some polyfil in the enclouser but I think I put too much. Does anyone know the cubic dimensions of the JBL enclouser?

Where did you mount the amp?

For plastic, epoxy would work very well to seal the holes. I prefer the Loctite brand- you can get it at Home Depot.

I mounted the amp on the back of the left rear seat. The MTX T2002 amp is very small so it doesn't take up much space at all.

Get some silicone caulking/glue. Also, I doubt your sub is at all sealed against the flange. I would use that same silicone caulking to seal teh flange as it will never sound great with air leaks. A good way to test is to push gently on the cone and listen for air leaks.

Epoxy would work well there, plus it dries in like 5 minutes!

Silicon would also work, but takes a lot longer to dry.

I never realized that the stock sub was an 8. I thought I remember reading that it was a 6.5 of something odd like that.

Good to know it's really an 8!!
