Just installed FJ Springs and 5100 Bilsteins. Please help me...

I had a place install these for me and I have issues. The ABS light and VSC trac, VSC off and skid lights are all on. They reset the codes and they come back. I also disconneced the battery for 10 min and they still come back on?

I hope something did not go wrong during the install.... Please help! :-(

Hope they did stretch the ABS wire when installing the lift..

Maybe someone else will chime in with a better guess.
 
Just from what I've read around here, they may have damaged your ABS sensor. Someone with more knowledge on the subject will have to back me up on that.
 
Get back under there and check all connections, sounds like you either have a bad connection or broke a wire.
 
Update..

I think I found out wnat it was thanks to some help our here. They stretched the ABS wire too far on the driver side. I use the multimeter to check both ends of the wire and it works fine for the passenger, but nothing on the drivers side. I guess the wire has been cut inside of the sleeve and a new wire will be needed. I would think they should cover this since it was stretched too far, right? This would set the ABS on and the VCS since they all work together. Check engine light is not on.

Sound about right?

Yes. You can splice in a new section or buy a replacement for around $50. The shop should replace the wire imo.
 
Yes, I agree imo they should flip the cost to replace. Could not test the rears, but they are not really stretched like the front. Thank you again and wish me luck in the morning. Will be stopping back by shop to fix her up... :-)
 
Update and need your thoughts.

Just wanted to bounce a few things off of you all on this again. I replaced the ABS cable on the driver side while the battery was disconnected. Plugged the battery back up and started the 4Runner, but ABS, skid and both VSC lights are still on. I left it running for like 5 min while not driving, but they did not turn off. I know it's the cable that was bad because you can see where they split the cable when changing out springs and shocks and continuity does not pass on it. I also checked continuity on all other connections for the rear and front. All pass but that one damaged. It looks like the fuse box has 2 ABS fuses, both are good.

So my question is even with that new cable why would the lights still be on? Does the computer need to be reset/clear existing codes outside of just disconnecting the battery for 30 min? Do I need to drive the vehicle for 10-15 min to see if the lights reset? I noticed another post out here that someone sent where the codes were reset and actually caused the problem too because it zeroed something out??? I did not try that method and don't really feel like trying anything else because it's up to the shop to make good on this since it all started by just removing X-REAS and installing 5100's with FJ Springs.

I'll tell you this has been a real nightmare, mainly because of the shop as this is not a difficult job based on what I have read out here. They're making good for everything thus far, thank goodness.

Any thoughts on that light issue?

Have you tried resetting the ECU by leaving the battery unplugged for a while?

edit- Nevermind, sorry I see you did the work with it unplugged. May be worth trying again. But I would go to Autozone or somewhere and have the free scan done to see what kinda codes you're getting.

In my experience - yes! I had a bad ABS cable connection that was bad but the lights kept coming back on until I cleared all the codes. Once I did that they never came back on.

Disconnecting the battery did not work for me, the codes were not cleared until I bought a ScanGauge and cleared them myself.

Yeah, like you said I tried that. AutoZone will no longer reset codes and just found out that Toyota's and many other newer vehicles do not reset the codes by leaving the battery disconnected. It needs to register with the computer once part is replaced, so you need to drive around for a while until the new part and computer have a good relationship and like one another... That's what I was just told from AutoZone and Toyota. So we'll see. For the world I could not imagine what else it could be with just removing the X-REAS, springs and shocks. The darn X-REAS does not have any eletronic cables going to it, so it really had me scratching my head. I still saved myself like $1000 going this route and not fully getting the X-REAS repalced by toyota, but these additional issues really put me in a bad mood. Glad shop is making good for it. :-)

I should have asked before messing w/all of this stuff... :-( If you ever need any help tracing the ABS cables I can tell you how! lol. I think I'll be dreaming about it for a while and I know my wife will be glad when I'm done. Good grief... In dog house for spending too much time on it.
 
I once had a toyo tech show me how to reset the service lights... key on acc push and hold the reset button by ODO..... worth a try?
 
Just wanted to update you all.

After plugging in the new ABS cable and driving vehicle for 100 ft or less all ABS, VSC and skid lights went off and remained off. Looks like you can't reset codes by leaving battery unplugged and need the computer to talk to the new part, once they do you should be okay if nothing else is wrong.
